The EU sucks, but anybody leaving it would cause more harm than good right now.

And Britain can stop trying to pull out of the Customs Union and Single Market. They need to honour their agreements with Ireland.

So why would they pull out of those? Does it have anything to do with Brexit, or are they separate?

It's all about the Brexit and they want to do it to go their own way. Which will probably be disastrous for them.

Well, whatever happens, I hope Ireland isn't affected. You guys didn't ask for this.

And I'm afraid that this #MeToo movement is getting as many detractors as supporters. People are calling it a witch hunt, like some Austrian filmmaker who said it belongs in the dark ages or something.

Yeah, Ireland didn't ask for this, but it's sure going to hit us.

The MeToo movement seems to be seen differently in non-English-speaking countries than in English-speaking ones. France v America, etc.

Well I hope it doesn't hit you too badly. There has to be something that can be arranged or managed.

Yeah, I heard that #MeToo isn't going along well in France. They think it's a witch hunt over there as well.

Much work is being done to arrange something, but it's uncertain that the British government will cooperate. They're endangering both the Irish economy and the Irish peace process.

Is there a time limit they have to get all of this done by so it limits any damage that might be done to Ireland?

There are different opinions on that.

Okay, that sounds ominous. Can I just say that I know you're pessimistic, but I do have faith that the Irish government won't let its citizens be screwed over by this. Just let me know how things are going, okay?

And I have to go to bed soon because I get up at 4am, so I'll talk to you tomorrow. Try to sleep well and have a good night!

It's not really up to the Irish government. It depends on Britain.

Good night.

Hi, sum1!

Wait, so the British government is the one who decides how this goes down and the Irish government has no say? How is this fair?

It isn't, but it's Britain that voted to leave. Specifically England, Wales and Cornwall.
