Thanks, LightYears!
I'm a real Marvel fan, but I had given up trading cards by the time I got into high school. __________________

They used to pack trading cards into bagged issues of comics back in the '90s. Usually had crap art.

I remember those, sum1. Yeah, they weren't that good. I miss the old bubblegum cards. The scent of bubblegum on cards is part of my childhood.
I collected the figurines too, Rita. __________________

It was all about the '90s drive to make comics into high-priced collectibles. When the collectible market failed, Marvel went bankrupt.

Yeah, I remember that, sum1. The worst part were those damn crossovers and the multiple colored comic book covers in reflective material for the same damn issue and all that stuff.
Those were too damn expensive and did anyone really want that stuff? __________________

The crossovers got to be a pain. I could have done without Onslaught or the Phalanx Covenant.

I know, right? I mean, I don't mind crossovers when they serve the plot, but when it's just for marketing or merchandising it's a waste of time and the stories become dumb filler.

There were some good crossovers, though. X-Cutioner's Song, for example.
