Erik was obviously the more serious one. Obviously having had a really traumatic past, Magneto has a lot of issues in life.

I think somehow Charles is still hopeful that Erik will go to the good side especially when they were younger but Erik got more power-hungry as they grew older.

Also I think if there was another way, Erik won't ask for Charles' help. But these were the Sentinels and they are destructive. What they did was very risky but all worth it in the end.

ETA: OMG I saw this on Tumblr and just had a hoot! There are 9 parts and they're all HILARIOUS!

This movie was amazing. Seriously I loved everything about it. I can't think of one dull part. I saw it 3 times at the movie theater and I rarely ever see a movie more than once at the movie theater. That's how great I thought it was. Definitely one of, if not my absolute favorite X-Men film.
