Really seems a shame they don't use the writers/artists guess Powers to be just wanna do their own thing

The wanker in the Superman costume with the mohawk is Gladiator, a massively powerful alien... enforcer of sorts, for the Shi'ar alien empire. His boss the Empress Lilandra is Xavier's girlfriend, but she puts Phoenix on trial and that leads to Phoenix's death. Later they had to retcon that Phoenix wasn't really Jean Grey, so they could bring back Jean Grey. Real copout. Phoenix's death: 1980. Jean Grey's return: Circa 1986.
