(Cyclops) Scott Summers {James/Tye} #5: Because he's the X-Men's first leader!

x
Biography:

James Paul Marsden (born September 18, 1973) is an American actor, singer and former Versace model. Marsden began his acting career guest-starring in multiple television shows such as Saved by the Bell, Touched by an Angel and Party of Five. He would then gain prominence with his portrayal of Scott Summers/Cyclops in the X-Men film series and starred in 2006's Superman Returns which earned him a Saturn Award nomination.

Following his breakthrough in comic book films, Marsden went on to star in various genre films including 2007's Hairspray which was a critical and commercial success and won many awards for its ensemble cast. As Corny Collins, he sang two songs for the film's soundtrack which has been certified Platinum by the RIAA. He would continue his success and star in family friendly films such as Enchanted, Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore and Hop.

Marsden later starred in a range of independent films such as Small Apartments, Bachelorette, and Robot & Frank. He also returned to television guest-starring in Modern Family and playing Liz Lemon's love interest, Criss Chros in 30 Rock in a supporting role. Marsden then portrayed President John F. Kennedy in Lee Daniels' The Butler, and had a supporting role as an antagonist in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

The scene in the train station where a young boy smiles at Cyclops and he smiles back was unplanned. The boy was a huge X-Men fan, and Cyclops was his favorite. The scene originally called for Cyclops to look at the train schedule, but according to Bryan Singer the boy could not stop smiling at James Marsden. Finally, during one shot, Marsden just looked back at him and smiled, much to the boy’s delight. Bryan Singer liked the idea so much, he kept it in the film. (x)

Thanks for the new thread, Sarah! We'll need some gifs of Tye, though.

So if the X-universe is heading towards the future shown in Logan, what hope is there for all these young mutants shown in the First Class trilogy? I don't care how good the Logan film is, I don't want some doom and gloom future shoved on the end of the X-story. Just because Disney Marvel did it doesn't mean Fox has to.

Yeah, but it's all screwed up if the story ends with the X-Men all being killed off and mutants nearly going extinct. Kind of dampens the enthusiasm for the story when we have that hanging over it. We had this situation before when X-Men First Class had X3's future hanging over it, and they fixed it with Days of Future Past. The question is will they fix the Logan future the same way? My worry is they won't because Logan is a succss, unlike X3.

I wouldn't worry, sum1. Logan is based on the Old Man Logan comic, which is already a non-canon alternate future storyline. I'm guessing that they'll incorporate Laura/X-23 into the present day X-Men as the new Wolverine at some point the way they did in the comics.

But will they incoprorate her as a little kid? That woud be kind of weird.

I'm actually thinking of some kind of time-travel thing, to be honest. I still ship Cyclops with Jean, but it'll be interesting to see the Scott/Laura dynamic from the comics in the movies.

I believe she's be in X-Force, and I also believe Cable will end up being a father figure to her.
