Oh yeah, that House of M thing. I think Marvel writers went crazy after this century began.

Yep. The only 21st century Marvel comics I like are ones drawn by JRJR and only some of those.

Every time you type JRJR I keep thinking of the guy who wrote the Game of Thrones books.
I don't know how I feel about this: Rumor: Jessica Chastain Playing Miss Sinister In X-Men: Dark Phoenix __________________

That's JRRM, not JRJR.
It's a load of bull. Sinister is guy. They should portray him as a guy the same way they shouldn't some day recast Jean as a man. Is it too much to ask that what we see onscreen match up in some basic essence with what's in the source material? Don't like Jessica Chastain anyway. __________________

I know, sum1. I just said it looked similar, that's all.
I agree, sum1. I'm getting a bit tired of this nonsense with Hollywood switching genders and races for no good reason other than their own PC garbage. __________________

Sinister happens to be one of my favorite X-Men villains. I want to see him done the way he is in the comics. I was looking forward to that. Now I'm not looking forward to this film at all. Chastain is not an actress whose work I enjoy.

Reminds me of what happened to the Ancient One in Doctor Strange.

That also involved race-swapping (whitewashing in that case) and dodging the Tibet topic for the sake of sales in China.

Hollywood is getting ridiculous with this race-swapping. Yeah, Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One was an insult. Who cares if the Ancient One is Asian? You don't have to specify his ancestry if you're worried about offending the Chinese with his Tibetan origins. Just keep him male and Asian.

They should have made him both Asian and Tibetan as well as male, like in the comics. It's a disgrace the way the world shies away from the Tibetan topic for fear of China's ire. China has destroyed the Tibetran nation and oppressed the Tibetan people. People used to care about that.

Hollywood are cowards when it comes to China because they're such a big film market, sum1. That's the same reason why Iron Man 3 shied away from making The Mandarin Chinese(or Mongolian) and instead made him Guy Pearce.

They shouldn't have done the Mandarin if they weren't going to do him for real. That movie was dreadful.

Yep, this is exactly the problem, and China isn't the only thing that Marvel and Disney wuss out on. As Neil Simon once wrote, "Once you start to compromise your thoughts, you're a candidate for mediocrity."

The cover of X-Men 30, 1994. The wedding of Scott and Jean. Happy times. Long before Marvel vilified Scott and killed off Jean. Art by Andy Kubert. __________________

Thanks, sum1. Yeah, I remember that cover. Short lived, but still sweet. Man, why does Marvel try to desecrate so many characters I like? Peter Parker, Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne, and Scott Summers and Jean Grey. I just wanna slap somebody at Marvel.
