The films are often enjoyable, but they have a frustrating lack of depth, substance and maturity. I want more from films than merely being enjoyable. Many of the actors turn in good performances, but they're going to get rid of many of those actors now. So I'm not too thrilled about the MCU movies right now

I think the X-Men movies were in general more serious in tone than The Avengers ones, less jokes for the fun of it.

I think that may have been a reflection of Robert Downy Jr.'s take on Tony Stark that influenced the other movies.

Tony Stark as a constant smart Alec can get kind of annoying. That's not who he is in the comics. The movie version is too smug. Downey does it well, but the character should be Tony Stark, not Robert Downey Jr.
