I haven't seen season 8 yet, but I've read the synopsis for what happens and I can't say I'm the slightest bit annoyed. It's a work of art, not a soap opera, so I don't think we should be getting hung up on what happens to our favorite characters. We knew they'd mostly end up badly -everybody is fair game on that show. Happy endings are not what it's about. I just look for the force and power and sweep of the show, the grand epic with powerful character portrayal and the vivid setting portrayal and I'm sure I'll find that in the season enough to satisfy me. They were never going to do something predictable like have Jon and Dany together ruling Westeros happily ever after. We got a clear indication of where Dany was heading when she went all Mad King on the Tarlies. And HBO has always been determinedly contrary in its show endings -look at Oz and The Wire. There's much more HBO in GOT's DNA than there is GRRM.
