Okaaaayyyy.... thanks for making me read all of that, sum1. And I actually agree. Black Panther never interested me as a character. I liked him mostly because he had a cool costume, but you're right, he was never as compelling as Luke Cage... whom I will always refer to as POWER MAN!

Yeah, the Blcak Panther had a cool costume. Except when they made him wear a half-mask.

He wore a half mask? When was that? I remember when he had a cape, which made him look a bit like Batman. And he also looked a bit like Union Jack from The Invaders, to be honest.

He wore a half mask (like Daredevil and Captain America) in the late 1960s. I think Marvel's reasoning was "If we have a black character, we want people to be able to see he's black." Not that the "Black" in the name mightn't have clued people in? Seeing as they regularly called black characters Black this and Black that back then, like Black Goliath. Though nothing beats them giving the Black Panther a foe who was a black man in an ape suit, called "Man-Ape", God help us. At least one later Black Panther writer refused to even mention that character's name and I can understand why. It's like giving Kitty Pryde or Moon Knight a Jewish enemy called "Nose-Man." Seriously, Marvel, you can do better than that. Different era, I guess.
Man-Ape is in the Black Panther film, but he's not called Man Ape and he doesn't wear an ape costume. When I first heard they were going to put him in the film I wtf was in their heads and how they were going to do it. Here's the result: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6328300/m...wer/rm80751616 They call him M'Baku, which is the character's civilian name. And thank god, no ape costume. __________________

Well I'm glad they didn't use that name in the movie. It just sounds horrible.
I think Marvel did better with Falcon, Power Man, War Machine, and Storm in terms of their black characters. __________________

And they didn't give them enemies dressed up in ape costumes.

No, but they did give The Flash a enemy who was a talking ape.

No they didn't. The "they" we're talking about here is Marvel. Marvel had nothing to do with the Flasher.

The "they" I'm referring to is the comic book industry in general. DC and Marvel as the "big two." And they both came out with a lot of silly villains back in the late 60's and 70's. Remember Rocket Racer, the guy with the skateboard?

Oh, okay sum1. I'm only the moderator, you know.
And I'm kinda wishing they'd get rid of Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen. There are way too many Spider-People in Marvel Comics right now. We only need Peter Parker and Jessica Drew and that's it. And maybe that Silk girl. __________________

I'm mildly interested because of Cate Blanchett, but it's still not enough to make me watch an MCU movie... not until all the Edgar Wright crap has been flushed out of it
