Disney's treatment of Johansson's Natasha shows where they really stand on female characters. No matter how many Captain Marvel movies they make. Captain Marvel stands out for her power, not her personality, whereas Johansson gave Natasha a convincing personality, lots of personality. And guess which one Disney picked? Picking power over personality for female characters is the classic trademark of faux female empowerment that gets caught up in the notion of power and forgets women are people. They cancelled Jessica Jones (who had tons of personality) too, yet they made a whole trilogy about Rey, who had lots of power and no personality.

That's pretty much what Disney does now with their female characters.

Example while the original animated Mulan movie had her stand out for her personality and not her power.

The live action Mulan movie had her stand out for her power and not her personality.

No problem. First Cyclops was used for this event, then Jean, and now Storm? Also not surprise the most powerful host is Storm.

What's the next thing they're gonna tie to The X-Men?
It doesn't matter, dragonfire. They recast Bruce Banner in the MCU, didn't they? And James Rhodes. So there's no reason why they couldn't recast Steve, Tony, or anyone else, for that matter. Movies have recast characters in the same universe going all the way back to James Bond.

I can't comment. sum1 is the Storm fan here.

They've tied everything to the X-Men since the 1990s, dragonfire. I remember back then freaking everything was tied to the X-Men.

There are times, sum1, when you and I are in total agreement.

That's different from recasting MCU Rogers and Stark after Evans and RDJ played the characters for multi movies and had swan songs.

Ok.

Excellent, and they be wise to return to that status quo, and keep that status quo like forever.

And let's not forget their WandaVision show, with an actress far inferior to Johansson. Bland character, lots of power.

So if Falcon gave up the shield, it is possible that Bucky will end up with it after all?

Bucky might end up with the shield, but it also might end up with US Agent, at least until they recast Steve Rogers. I absolutely hate Feige for not having Steve/Sharon because of his damn Peggy Carter fetish. She was never important as a character.

No, it's not. You can always recast those roles, especially when their swan songs are lame, and the characters are still alive in the comics. The recast Cyclops and Jean Grey, didn't they? You're never gonna win this argument.

They can't make that status quo because Marvel is about more than the damn X-Men. That stuff in the 90s was just marketing and Hollywood jumping on the bandwagon.

Miles isn't sharing a codename with Peter Parker, he's appropriating it. Peter had that for decades.

I think US Agent will get it but then after showing him abusing the title, Sam will realize what he needs to do, and take back the title.

This story has been done over and over again. The underdog who is meant for the title, but they first rejects it believing someone else is meant for it only to discover after finding out the someone else abuses the title, it was meant for the underdog all along.

Agree to disagree about Peggy.

Also let's agree to disagree about the recast stuff as well.

Not if Disney would rather have everything Marvel be about The X-Men. The X-Men can be to Disney what Batman is to WB. A big unlimited cash cow franchise.

Ok.

You can agree to disagree all you want to, dragonfire, but even you have to realize that it's unrealistic to impossible to think that Chris Evans and Robert Downy Jr. will be the only actors to play Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. They will recast eventually. That's a given.

Peggy isn't as important to Steve's story as Sharon, that's a simple fact. Feige's fetish for British women is the only reason Endgame ended the way it did. But Peggy really wasn't in Steve's life long enough to be that important. They didn't even go out on a date.
