Peter's not one of these big macho superheroes. He's a not a little wimp like in the films, but he is a bit shorter and lighter built than average for a male Marvel superhero. However, they've been pushing that further in the comics this century, probably in reaction to the films.

Really? I've seen some of the comics, and he doesn't seem too different from the way he was in the 20th century to me.
I hate it when the comics try to copy the films. If the films can't get the story right, then the comics should be under no obligation to align with them. __________________

I did notice that. He was thicker in the 70s and 80s.

You had to know I was gonna say that, sum1.
Thanks, dragonfire. Another damn alternate reality? I remember Black Widow and Spider-Man teaming up way back in an issue of Marvel Team-Up, and I thought they might make good partners, but love interests? And she's Black Cat and not Black Widow? Oh, that symbiote series sounds interesting. Untold post-Secret Wars stories involving Peter with his black and white outfit? Anything that takes us back to the grand old 1980s. __________________

Thanks, sum1.
I think they mean who was responsible for the cosmic rays that mutated them into superheroes. Up until now it was always seen as a random incident. I hope it's not like what they did with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, making them experiments of The High Evolutionary. __________________
