Didn't they already do this with X-Man, the teenage version of Nathan Summers from Age of Apocalypse in the 1990s? He was one of the few characters from that alternate reality to make it into the 616 Prime universe.

It's a shame Marvel didn't stick with him, because I liked Nathan's chemistry with Peter Parker when Peter began mentoring him.

He stuck around. He's The X-Man. He recently did some big stuff. But he's totally different from the kid Cable that they have now.
