It actually began in the late 80's with Todd McFarlane. He was drawing characters like something out of an anatomy chart when he started on Spider-Man.

I don't know if I ever read Todd McFarlane's Spider Man. My main periods of Spider Man reading were the mid '80s and the mid '90s and thereabouts. The first time it was because Spider Man was the easiest Marvel superhero comic to get in UK reprints. The second time it was mostly stuff I read for JRJR's artwork.

I do agree that JRJR's Spider-Man is the one I grew up with as well.
 I think most people did. McFarlane came around about the mid to late 80's. He's the guy who created Venom.__________________
