I think it'll happen eventually. I'm not convinced that Channing is the right actor to play Gambit, but I'll keep an open mind. I do respect his passion for the character though and I highly doubt he'll give up on this project, even with all these delays.

He's totally wrong for the role and so was Taylor Kitsch. Both guys are too like the American stereotype of the "jock" football player. Gambit is a slim charmer and rogue, thief and French-American. He has a brain, which I don't get from a lot of Taylor and Channing's performances. I'd cast Ian Somerhalder in the role. He's from Louisiana like Gambit and he has French ancestry. And there's considerable personality overlap between Gambit and Damon Salvatore.
I had mixed feelings about Gambit when I was reading X-Men comics back in the '90s. On one hand, he was a slimy creeper and on the other hand he could be a lot of fun. The comics set him up with Rogue, but I preferred her involvements with Magneto and his clone Joseph. __________________
