Doesn't look much like Domino.

It's lazy and looks like bad cosplay. This is one of the rare cases where cosplayers did it better than the movie.

I'm gonna withhold judgment until this movie comes out. I'm always critical of casting, but let's see how it goes.

They should have painted her white with a black area over her eye, like the way she looks in the comics.

New post, because it's hours later:

Article on the topic:
https://www.yahoo.com/movies/deadpoo...155524577.html

The article describes the "backlash" as "tiresome" and similarly describes the argument that it's not faithful to the comics as "tiresome" as well. Why is it tiresome to them? It's because they don't respect comics or comic fans and want to be seen as better than them, so they have contempt for their concerns. A bit hypocritical coming from people interested in a comic book movie isn't it? Comic book fans have been getting this crap ever since the superhero movie boom started at the beginning of this century. The "cool kids" don't want to be seen to be like the "uncool" comic book fans so they pour scorn on their concerns to show they're better. It's prejudiced and tiresome.

This article points out that fans didn't get worked up over changes made to Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Well she's a minor character. I'd never heard of her before the first Deadpool movie. But Domino is a classic character, dating back to the early days of X-Force in the early '90s. She's been front and centre in so much X-Force and Cable stuff.

They don't actually openly accuse us of being racist for not liking this version of Domino (though it's hinted by the comment about Negasonic, whose race was not changed, unlike Domino), but there is in fact nothing racist in wanting the screen version of a character to match the comic book version in race, not if it's part of an all-around concern that the character be faithfully portrayed in general. If you're concerned that the character be generally faithful to the comic book version, of course you're going to want the race to remain the same, just as you're going to want the gender to remain the same, etc. Another detail here is age -Zazie Beetz is a decade too young to play Domino. With Wolverine, Hugh Jackman is a foot too tall and I resent that. It's only because Jackman does a very good job that I accept his version of the character despite his height, just as I accept Idris Elba's version of Heimdall in the Thor movies because he does such a good job. Maybe Zazie Beetz will prove to be very good in the role, but that has yet to be seen.

Finally, why does the pic of Domino have to have her to posed like she's in a men's magazine centrefold? A little respect for the character, please. Domino is a tough, capable heroine, not just a sex object.

I totally agree, sum1. Hollywood doesn't give a about the fans. And who cares about Negasonic Teenage Warhead anyway? Not only is she a minor, throwaway character that no one gives a about, but her role could've been given to anyone. Boom-Boom, Jubilee, Firestar, you name it.

FOX does because it seems FOX wanted to power-up NTW, or something like that. And Disney/Marvel wanted Ego so they made some strange trade. Plus I think it was one of the Deadpool writers who revealed that information.

I heard something about that, though I don't see why Fox couldn't use Negasonic without a trade considering she's a mutant character.

Exactly. If Fox owns the rights to all mutant characters(except for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, whom they must share with Marvel), then why ask permission for NTW?
And my original point stands: why use her when there are other moody, snarky teenage female mutants they could've used?

I agree with sum1's post.

I know that one of the reasons why they used Negasonic Teenage Warhead was because the writers liked her name, and obviously, she wasn't expensive. I thought she was fine in the movie. I look forward to seeing her and the others returning from the first movie. Could honestly care less about Domino, no matter how much they keep hyping her.

I don't know but it could be like how Disney/Marvel owns Jessica Drew, but can't call her Spider-Woman because Sony owns the name. That's like with Kang even though he's mostly Avengers villain, FOX owns him because they own the FF.

No I still think that's inaccurate, dragonfire. The whole reason Stan Lee created Jessica Drew in the first place is so that Marvel could retain the rights to that name and no one else could use it. Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, but I don't believe they could prevent Marvel from calling Jessica Spider Woman if they wanted to.

I think the Sony email leaks revealed Sony owns the name Spider-Woman. Plus I think Disney would rather use Spider-Gwen, than Jessica Drew. It's like Gwen is Disney's Spider's IT Girl. Who knows maybe Michelle will be MCU Spider-Woman.

Okay, we're not gonna get into this discussion again. Let's just not go there. And Sony can say anything they want, but whether or not they can actually claim Spider-Woman even though she has nothing to do with Spider-Man's storyline is another thing.

I guess this isn't gonna make anyone feel better.
