You know what's funny? A lot of people think that Josh's father, James Brolin, looked a lot like Christian Bale when he was younger.

And yes, I agree about James Brolin. I actually think he would have been a good Cable as well, if this were the late 80s or early 90s. He's also taller than Josh.

James Brolin looked nothing like Cable. Too rat-faced. The man to play Cable, if this were ten years ago, would be Clancy Brown.

I doubt it. Would have been a bigger name, but that's irrelevant now. Although I can understand if he was your choice back then. We all have our favorites.

I'm glad Josh is playing him, even though he's a lot shorter than Cable from the comics. At least they made him bigger than Deadpool in the movie, judging from that final trailer.

ETA: Just looked up Clancy Brown's IMDb filmography and saw that he voiced Mister Sinister in the Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. Interesting X-Men connection there.

I'm not saying Clancy Brown WOULD have been given the role. I'm saying he would have been the appropriate choice. But anyway, you don't need a big name for Cable. Hugh Jackman was pretty much unknown when he was cast as Wolverine.

Most actors and actresses aren't bankable in Hollywood unless if they're part of a franchise. Many of them can't open a movie on their name alone.
