I liked no Bush, but I'm not going to compare any other Republican president to trump. Nobody compares to trump. Just a whole different level of filth.

After Bush it was hyperbole. After Trump it's for real. If you can't see that I have to wonder where you've been for the past four years.

And I liked Bush (#2). I didn't agree with him on gay rights and abortion, but I liked him and still do. People in Africa love him because he's done so much to fight AIDS there and the Obamas and Clintons both like him too, because no matter his views he's a nice guy. I supported the Iraq war, because you can't leave a dictator in charge of a country when he's wiped out hundreds of thousands of the population. But they fought it all wrong. They weren't ready for the sort of resistance they were going to face or how the war would be fought. So yeah, it was a a horrible mess. But the original intent was sound. Ideally the Iraq war should have been fought in the late '80s when Saddam was slaughtering endless numbers of people in northern Iraq and what they should have done in the first decade of this century was instead go into Sudan and stop the Darfur genocide. And Obama should have gone into Syria and stopped Assad from slaughtering huge numbers of Syrian civilians and driving out millions more. I like Obama as a person, but I'll never forgive him for abandoning the Syrians in their hour of need.

I have a lot of sympathy for Bush for having to handle such a hard part of US history and a lot of appreciation for how he appears in the public eye since his presidency. So much class!

I never called for his head. I've stood by him ever since he went into Iraq. And you should remember that he's been praised on this board before.
I never forget that after Trump's Muslim ban, Bush implied he wanted to smuggle Muslim women into America so they could take the business course he was providing to empower Muslim women. He's never been the Islamophobe and racist/sexist that he was accused of being.

It certainly helps. I've even grown more favourable towards AOC due to her ability to take apart loutish Republicans. More favourable that is, not all around favourable. I still think she can come out with some pretty bizarre things, not to mention her attitude on antisemitism.
