Hi MgA! Welcome to the board . Last night's episode was the eighth episode to air and the last one before the show's hiatus. No other episodes have been completed and therefore none will air until they go back into production sometime in the new year (hopefully!). The ninth episode you heard about though might have been the un-aired pilot .

Well, ur probably right, but i went lookin for the list anyway and i found it here http://www.pazsaz.com/tarjane.html.
There it is, for all those who want to cry over the fact that they are too cheap to give us one more episode.

Season 1 (2003-2004)
(? Episodes In Season 1)
1 Pilot (Originally Aired 10/5/2003)
2 Secrets And Lies (Originally Aired 10/12/2003)
3 Wages Of Sin (Originally Aired 10/19/2003)
4 Rules Of Engagement (Originally Aired 10/26/2003)
5 Emotional Rescue (Originally Aired 11/2/2003)
6 Surrender (Originally Aired 11/9/2003)
7 For Love Of Country (Originally Aired 11/16/2003)
8 Checkmate (Originally Aired 11/23/2003)
9 Bullets Over Broadway

Notice they changed the title of the 8th episode, i guess to make the end more meaningful in case they do decide to cancel it. this is ridiculous

Ohhhh... that source. Sorry I'd forgotten about it but, yeah, I saw it too and, actually the information IS incorrect. The list I see there is a little different from the one you posted so, here it is again.

1. Pilot (Originally Aired 10/5/2003)
2. Secrets And Lies (Originally Aired 10/12/2003)
3. Wages Of Sin (Originally Aired 10/19/2003)
4. Rules Of Engagement (Originally Aired 10/26/2003)
5. Emotional Rescue (Originally Aired 11/2/2003)
6. Surrender (Originally Aired 11/9/2003)
7. For Love Of Country (Originally Aired 11/16/2003)
8. The End Of The Beginning (Originally Aired 11/23/2003)
9. Checkmate (Originally Unaired)
10. Bullets Over Broadway (Originally Unaired)

But see, as you said, the supposed ninth episode "Checkmate" was the original title for "The End of the Beginning", as the tenth episode "Bullets Over Broadway" was actually the original title for the fourth episode "Rules of Engagement". And I got this information from the episodes section of Wild Innocence.

So don't worry! The WB aired all the episodes filmed so far and, hey, hopefully we will be able to convince them to resume production and give us even more in the new year!

*crosses fingers as my printer pumps out another four pages of postcards* ..lol..

Yeah I know, it really is frustrating . To be fair though, we pretty much knew they wern't going to make anything official until later this week at the absolute earliest. You knew that the reason they stopped production was so that they could examine the ratings for the sweeps though right? Last night was the final sweeps episode and the ratings information is still just coming in. They are (and will throughout the week) be trying to determine whether or not it should continue and what needs to be tweaked if it does. That's why the campaign to save the show sprang up; to try and get others to tune in, to let The WB know how much we love it, and also of course to try and convince them to give it a chance .

Tarzan’s grip is failing, did you want to lend a hand?

By: ANDREW HERSHBERGER

This week has been a hectic one, I had planed to spend some quality time with one of my favorite books, B-MOVIE HORRORS: A PHOTO-FILLED JOURNEY INTO THE HORROR AND SCI-FI FILMS OF DIRECTOR DON DOHLER, when I noticed the Cinescape phone, a.k.a. my e-mail, was ringing off the hook. Seems everybody wants to save TARZAN.

Do you want TARZAN saved? Let me know this week and I’ll let you know what the general consensus is in two weeks? Deal?

Well, deal or not still drop me a line at Tvwasteland@Cinescape.com

For the full article go here.

So everyone make sure to drop him a line and let him know that yes, you are one of the many who want the show to continue!

Thanks for the ratings info.

Are those ratings from Mediaweek or Zap2It or some other source. Just curious.

Anyways, I hope its enough for TPTB to give it a chance.

Hey Karen , thanks for stopping in! Yeah, I try to keep on top of things, keep this thread as current as possible. Right now I'm actually "transcribing" the events of the last 24 hours which I should be posting in a minute or two. I'm just wondering though, what boards do you post at? And, more so, what name do you post under? I've probably seen you around . I go by "Ambrosia" or "ambrosia" on the various forums, creative no? .

Well guys, the campaign (and the emotions of those involved in it) have been on quite a ride these past twenty some odd hours and, I'm not (entirely ) ashamed to admit that I pulled an all-nighter just to keep up.

Here's the play-by-play...

Rafferty Rulz posts this excerpt from a Variety magazine article.

Quote:
Some of the WB's vet skeins were down more than 20% year-to-year, and new drama "Tarzan" has disappointed.

"It's very schzophrenic for us because on the one hand we're being sent a lot of positive signals from our viewers and affiliates and then on the other hand being sent very different picture in terms of numbers," said WB Entertainment prexy Jordan Levin. "For us the disconnect between the national sample and the overnight sample on a nightly basis has been very confusing."
Sometime late last night The WB removes the link to the Tarzan section of the website from their main page. (The section itself is still up though. Here's the direct link).

WBCandyce (moderator) posts the following on the Tarzan board @ The WB forums...

Quote:
"The Tarzan show is going on hiatus.

Since we only carry boards for currently airing programs, this board will come down next Monday at midnight ET."
Understandably a lot of people had comments on this, especially about whether or not the show had actually been cancelled and the term "hiatus" was being used just to string us along or for various other reasons. Well, she didn't give us many answers but, I believe that Candyce tried to as best she could.

"No, I don't know. What I posted is my current information."

"Yes, they (the execs or "higher-ups") read the Boards and Feedback as far as I know."

"Sorry, those decisions are made by the PTB, and I'm just a MTB (Moderator That Be). So, I can't answer that question."

So, again, "hiatus" is what she was told and so "hiatus" is what she passed along to us.

Rafferty Rulz makes this lengthly but informative post at tarzantheseries forums...

I called Jordan Levin, co-CEO, The WB and talked with one of his assistants, Erica. She told me that Tarzan is on production hiatus. I could not get any other information; ie. Why then was Tarzan pulled from their listing of shows on their website? She then placed me on hold. The next thing…I’m listening to the recorded tones of TheWB’s automated phone system to leave a message and that they listen to ALL viewer feedback.

I then called the Toronto Film Commission. AND was told that Tarzan is no longer in production. The producers had told them that the show was canceled. Here's the link to the latest (Nov 24th) shows currently in production. Note: You need acrobat reader.

I then called my local affiliate. AND was told that the official word from TheWB is that Tarzan is on hiatus. BUT it’s not unusual for TheWB to say a show is on hiatus AND to never speak of it again. However, I was told that enough doors are open that if TheWB wills it, Tarzan could go back into production. AND as far as the automatic replies that some of you indicated you have received from your affiliates to your emails; that’s standard operating procedure by the affiliates. Apparently, with TheWB that is, when they place a show on “hiatus,” that usually means it’s canceled. BUT again. I repeat. The “official” word from TheWB is that Tarzan is on production hiatus.

I then called one of the producers. I’m not going to name names here because the producers work for the studios. AND TheWB is in essence their meal ticket. AND was told that the show is canceled. Could it go back into production? Yes. BUT the longer the time the show remains out of production the less likely it could be revived; ie. the actors could find other projects. As of the date of this post, no one is on the Tarzan payroll.

I’ve also found the following article:

Quote:
Without Tarzan, The WB Gets Real

By Paige Albiniak -- Broadcasting & Cable, 11/25/2003 12:01:00 PM

With Tarzan swinging off The WB’s schedule, reality is setting in at the network with The Surreal Life and High School Reunion taking over the Sunday 9 p.m. time slot.
The Surreal Life’s second go-round premieres on The WB on Sunday, Jan. 11, and will feature a possibly even stranger cast than last time around.
A Hollywood home will be populated with former TV evangelist Tammy Faye Baker; porn star Ron Jeremy; long-ago ChiPs star Erik Estrada; the original white rapper, Vanilla Ice; Baywatch’s Traci Bingham; and Real World’s Trishelle. The Surreal Life comes from Mindless Entertainment and Brass Ring Entertaiment.
Once that show’s six-episode run is completed – including a three-episode rebroadcast marathon on Sunday, Feb. 1 against The Super Bowl on CBS – High School Reunion will return for its second installment. High School Reunion is executive produced by The Bachelor’s Mike Fleiss and is from Next Entertainment and Telepictures Productions.
The WB entered the season with Fearless on tap for mid-season, but now the show might not appear at all this year, says Jordan Levin, The WB’s co-CEO. "We’re still waiting for the studio to tell us if it’s going to be ready for mid-season." Fearless is executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and is from Warner Bros. Television.
As you can see, after The Surreal Life ends its run, TheWB will then air High School Reunion in Tarzan’s time slot. You will also notice that Levin is still counting on Fearless to be a mid-season replacement. As I indicated in an early post, I believe that TheWB was planning on replacing Tarzan with Fearless. However, I read in a zap2it article that due to behind-the-scene problems, the show wouldn’t be ready until the Fall of 2004. But here is Levin talking about Fearless; not Tarzan. The reason this is important is because I believe that the reality shows are buying lead time for the production of one of these shows. I want to believe that it’s Tarzan, BUT at this point AND with the accumulated evidence…it doesn’t look good. On the other hand, if Fearless can’t be ready…Tarzan is standing in the wings so to speak. Again. JMHO.

AND on a personal note…for the life of me, I can’t understand why if TheWB wants to cancel a show that they just say so. It’s not like it’s an uncommon occurrence. It wasn’t until I talked with my affiliate and was told that after all the money and promotion by TheWB proclaiming that Tarzan was the end all and be all; then when the show didn’t live up to the hype that TheWB maybe just simply saving face.

Now what does that mean to you???

I wanted to give you ALL the information that I know so that you can make your own decision. You can either continue bugging the hell out of TheWB. Who knows…a miracle might happen. OR save your energy and money on other pursuits. The choice is yours.

Of course, when new information comes to my way, I will certainly bring it to everyone’s attention.

ETA:
In case you’re still contacting TheWB, here's an article from Media Week. In it Nielsen admitted that their methodology accounted for 40% of the viewers lost to the networks in the men 18-49 group. I don’t know how much of an affect that would have on Tarzan’s ratings; but it could be an issue you could address in your correspondence with TheWB.

ETAA: Speaking of miracles: From TVGuide Online

Quote:
"TRU OR FALSE?: Despite lackluster ratings and virtually no critical support, Tru Calling has been picked up by Fox for a full season. I'm baffled"
*********************************************************

First of all... many, many, MANY hugs and kisses to Rafferty Rulz for all her tireless campaigning and research.

Now.... what do you all think?
