I need to get up early tomorrow to go to my mother's to babysit my nephew. I really, really need to sleep.

I doubt I’ll be sleeping early, I had an iced coffee at 5:30 pm!

I gave up sleeping early a long time ago haha. Tonight is actually "early", it's 11pm and I'm in bed in PJs, that's a good start.

Age took care of that for me. I'm naturally a night owl, but I have a 9 to 5 job. It's just not as easy to recover from a shorter night of sleep any more. So I tend to go to bed earlier these days.

But, yeah, that runs counter to nature for me.

I went to bed at 7PM last night and read until almost 2am! Slept a bit better but slept even better when I was away camping!

I had to get up early today for my birthday brunch and it's really knocked me out.

It's always a bit of a non-event. It wasn't terrible, though. That may be damning with faint praise, but that birthday meal is not my favourite part of the year.

I don't like being the centre of attention on my birthday, a few cards is nice and a family dinner or lunch but all the focus is unnecessary unless it's a Childs birthday you know?

Mine, too. But it has nothing to do with me. We go to restaurants that are designed to please everyone (and thus please no one) and when we're there, none of the conversations involve me at all.

I'm just glad it's over.

I think mine make such a deal out of my birthday too because I'm in November, there's no other birthdays that month or in October or December, so I'm the only one.

Good for you! Seriously. I'm one of many in August and when I was a kid, all I wanted was for my day to receive special treatment, rather than being lumped in with everyone else's. But, these days, all it means is that the summer has become this marathon of events and it just adds to the stress.
