I vaguely remember Gemma Arterton talking about this movie on The Graham Norton Show.

Plus, I can't imagine anything with Bill Nighy in it is ever bad. Mind you, I looked it up on Wikipedia (mainly to figure out how to spell Arterton's last name) and I find out that there's a different ending to the movie for the U.S. market. So now I'm stuck wondering if Canada counts as "the U.S. market" or, you know, the rest of the world.

OK, so I started the new thread, because we were due. But, obivously, the title remains to be determined. So, any ideas or suggestions?

I enjoyed it and you're right about Bill

that's just part of the plot, so I think you'll be okay

I'll try to think of something.

Dave, I know I'll be fine. The U.S. ending seems to have put a mildly more optimistic spin on things... if I can put it that way. Anyway, that's never a bad thing in my book, as you know.

but you get that there's only one ending right? the US wanting a different ending to the movie (that they're making) is part of the plot.

Well, maybe I got it wrong, but from what I read, it felt like it wasn't just the in-movie movie that had a different U.S. ending, but the actual movie itself as well.

But, of course, with Wikipedia, you never know for sure.

I just can't see that being the case.

It does happen. Off the top of my head, I can think of the Matthew Macfadyen version of Pride and Prejudice, where they added an extra scene at the end of the movie for the U.S. (and Canadian) market.

I'm not saying it happens often at all. And, on the rare occasion where it does happen, I'm talking one or two scenes at the most that don't really alter the "meaning" of the end either.

With P&P, for instance, it was just a scene of Mr and Mrs Darcy basking in being happily married. With or without that scene, the movie is still the same. The extra scene just... I don't know is the cherry on top or whatever.

And, again, I'm not saying the same thing happened here. Just that the Wikipedia description is confusing me, making me think there was a different end made for the U.S. market... but I'll only make sense of it when I do see the film, so feel free to ignore me.

That's interesting, because Gold seems the least interesting to me in that list and Moonlight is definitely on my list of must-sees.

Very interesting in deed. To me I think Moonlight could have had more of a steady plot.

I want the see The Circle and Gifted.

I did think Moonlight was a good film with good acting, but I wasn't overblown by it. I thought 'Lion' was a much better film tbh
