This Covid thing is scary. Not just because it robs us of people like that but because we still don't know what the long-lasting impact may be on those who do survive.

Today I lost a very close friend who lives in New Jersey which is 400 miles from me. He has been in the hospital since just after Christmas with COVID-19. We had been texting up to last Wednesday. He was so careful , he was still dealing with the loss of his wife for 50 years last May. Due to his oldest son who is a Hasidic Jew , he was buried today the same day he passed.. Not that I would have gone to his funeral with everything that’s going on.. I had hoped at least for a audio or a zoom video of the services.
I am dealing with this and will miss our daily conversations.

Lost my mom on the 12th and it still doesn't feel real.. It's just a weird, empty feeling..

That's so very normal.

My favourite died a little over a year ago, so I've had front seats to how her daughter and my mother have processed their grief. It's different for everyone, of course, but it's also completely normal to have moments where it just knocks you over.

And I don't mean this in a cruel way, but losing a person you love should hurt. You miss them to the extent that you loved them.
