History Lovers #1: What is your favourite History period?
Thought that I would create this as I've seen a few others on :ff: that love History like I do :wiggle: so this thread will be where we can gather together and talk about History :)
|
I'm a Classical Studies graduate so my heart belongs to ancient/ classical history. I especially love everything Roman, although I am slightly fond of the Greeks too (but Romans > Greeks IMO ).
I'd love to read up on more history; since I graduated last year I've been a bit lazy on that front! :) |
Roman :high_five: they are by far ny favourite, then its Medieval plus Greek
|
Yay, history!
I love Byzantine history the most. I am fascinated by it. I have studied not only that, but British, American and Canadian. Love, love, history! You don't know your future until you know your history. :) |
Your last statement is so true :)
Nice to see that you joined us too :yay: |
Love love love History. Was always my best subject in school. Sarah I've been thinking and I just might go back to school and major in History. |
You should April :D would be an amazing major. Can't wait to do it myself
|
Now I just need to get myself back in school.
|
Whats your favourite time period again? :wiggle:
|
I too was always good at it, it was one of my best subjects in high school. I try to get kids interested in it as well by telling them some random fun facts that might resemble their lives now - sporting events, games, etc.
These are a few of my favorite history facts to tell people. Kings were often assassinated (or attempted) on Christmas Day because everyone knew they were at church. Emperors in 700 BC (mostly Emperor Justinian), banned coffee houses in fear that his subjects were plotting to kill him and overthrow his "government". |
My favorites are Medieval time period, Civil War, Ancient Roman and Greek. I love the most is local area history and the mysteries and myths. And a lot of the cultures like Native American, Ireland, Scotland, the Roman and Greek Gods.....
|
We have alot in common April :D
Oh thats cool Michelle :wiggle: useless info is awesome, my Western Civilizations prof did those each lesson |
I love useless info.
And speaking of Western Civilizations I loved my prof. Especially his name...Dr. Love. I loved that class. |
Oh excellent thread.
My favorite time in history is the 1800s-1900s in particular the time of Westward Expansion and to be more specific, Native American history. I have many books on the subject. I'm currently trying to read more on Southern Native Americans since I don't know much about them and that's the territory which I reside in. I love history, always have. On the many camping trips and travels I've taken there's always been a history lesson attached and I am always fascinated by it. I love walking in places and wonder who walked there before me and what may have occured. I've been to a few historical forts and it amazes me at what could have transpired in the past before it became what it is today. I could go on forever. I've currently gotten into the Civil War because it was a major topic in history class and I found it really fascinating. I mean yeah I've been taught that stuff before but I guess because of the way my history professor taught it it became much more interesting. It helps having instructors who are just as passionate about a subject as you are because it makes it that much more enjoyable a class to sit through. |
I  the Civil War :) need to learn more of it and hope too but thats awesome
