Bulk Barn has both! It always has a whole lot of different kinds of candy and then it has seasonal specialties. It also sells dried fruits of all kinds, nuts as well, spices, pastas, grains and flours.

I didn't even know I'd been eating stale candy my whole life before I went there.

Bulk Barn sounds great! I'm jealous. They seem have the market on variety of everything they offer. I didn't know stores that sold so many different things existed.

on only having had stale candy before. I feel like that's probably all I've had, too.

Are the pastas and spices, etc. all fresh, too?

The spices are fresh. It's dried pasta (they also have a ton of different kinds of dried beans), so I can't tell how fresh it is.

I went back today. Saw one man come in with his own containers that he filled with one kind of brown sugar and apple pie filling, both of which are sold in bulk.

There were all kinds of Halloween candies. Chocolates, gummies (I got pumpkin gummies), marshmallow, lollipops, etc. There were tarantula gummies, which I'm sure taste just fine, but not thanks!

Does anyone like to cook or bake something fun or special for Halloween?

That store sounds incredibly, Sunny. I've never heard of pumpkin gummies, but they sound SO good.

I wouldn't want tarantula anything.

Aw, love the ghost, Kali.

I like to make sugar cookies, cut out with a pumpkin cookie cutter, and decorate them with icing, Leanne. How about you?

Ha! I was just thinking about food and Halloween, and it reminded me of how I can't eat rice because of the Poltergeist scene.

I like making pumpkin bread with chocolate chips and cookies that arencallingn"witches fingers" that look gross but actually taste good, like almond shortbread.

Haha, you mean the steak that opened up with maggots in the first Poltegiest movie, Kim?

Eh, you know how I hate chocolate chips, but the rest sounds yummy, Leanne.

Yep, that's the scene I'm talking about.

I can't think of anything in particular being a recipe for Fall, other than pumpkin bread.

I may end up watching the Blair Witch Project, again, this weekend.

Fall recipes and winter recipes get confused for me. I mean, it's all about warm, satisfying meals, isn't it?

One Halloween treat I haven’t had in forever is popcorn balls, used to get them while trick or treating, but back then it was still ok for people to hand out homemade treats, now they seem hard to come by. Same with caramel apples.

Sunny, I think so. Warm and filling for me.

Though, I guess I think of the "spice" flavor of stuff in the Fall.

Leanne, they sell those here, but they're not a good mix of sweet and salty.

I get confused on fall versus winter spice because part of my Christmas presents each year are gingerbread cookies and, as far as I can tell, those are the same spices people talk about when talking about fall spices.

Hm, that is a good point.

I always think of gingerbread as stronger spice, because that's the way they were made for me. I have, though, had gingerbread cookies that were what I'd call "smoother" spice. I guess with a little more sweetness to them?

I know, those words to describe spices don't make sense to anyone but me.

Have you tried any of the pumpkin gummies yet? If you have, how are they?
