Fk man, I've seen a lot of good stuff regarding the subject but last night's Supergirl turned me into a complete mess.

This scene basically described my whole life so it hit pretty hard.

Orlando bought/is buying the Pulse night club, so there is no question now about what will happen to it. It's definitely gonna be a memorial. I'm glad, people need a place to go and just be. Great decision by all involved here.

Kali Very interesting.. Like an actual memorial, memorial.. Or a GLBT center? I wonder what it will be.

So long as it's not turned into a shopping centre or a parking lot, I'll be satisfied.

That's the reason they are buying it. To keep it from becoming anything other than a memorial. Last I saw they were still asking for family and public input on the kind of memorial it would become.

What a sad day to be a non-white, non-religious, non-male, non-straight person in this country.

Sorry / not sorry had to be said.

What year are we living in?!

So sad for all the LGBT+ people in the USA now. Reading comments on twitter/tumblr how scared they all are breaks my heart.

It scares me.

Just when I made 2 steps forward in my own sexuality because of the strength I got from that Supergirl episode and now it's like moving 10 feet back because we have this... leading the country.

I feel like I'm having to go back into that damn straight jacket (pun intended).

Would it cheer you up to hear that there is some gossipy suspicion that Anthony Kennedy may be the first gay Justice? I mean, why else would a conservative judge, selected by George W. Bush no less, support same-sex marriage and help turn the tie to vote down Prop 8?

All kidding aside, hate crimes went up 60% after the Brexit vote, so I won't minimize the fears of any minority group for the days ahead. I've heard of too many Muslim women already who are debating whether they shoud stop wearing the hijab, not because of personal conviction, but because of fear of retaliation.

But trust that more people believe in your right to be as non-hetero-conforming as you can be than otherwise. That is statistically proven. There is still a lot of work to be done, for sure. But the tide on that issue has turned. Just looked at what Orlando did with the Pulse nightclub.

If you're really worried, though, look around you in your community and find the nearest Gay Pride organization. Find your people. There is strenght in numbers. Don't stay alone.

Typical. I point out the Supergirl scene to my mom and nothing comes of it. Just when I thought we were making progress.

Instead I get the typical traditional spiel of 'I think you're just confused' and 'You need God in your life.'

~*~*~

Yeah well if I'm confused then I have been my whole life because the one thing that has been constant in my "searching" is the fact that I'm into girls no matter whether I've played the straight card or the a-sexual card. That component has always been there.

I have started unfollowing people om facebook because I can't handle it. My brother just said he was deleting it from his phone because of all the mess. For me, I have seen how people wre acting and it is scary. I was never out on fcebook per sue, but was out. I have a few friends who have said they were taking facebook breaks because they can't handle it. For one of my friends, he said if anyone wanted to keep in touch with him, message him and he would give them fheir number. Of course I did.

Kali That's great they are tryung to keep it as a memoral.

Like you said...typical...as usual, your mom is hoping and praying you will "wake up and embrace the religion "of your youth"...her belief system...you can't blame her for trying to get you to "return".

It is hard for religious parents who feel differently about their children's sexuality questions and different belief systems. Even harder for some parents when the kids are adults!!!

Yeah and I understand that, even respect it but I can't change being me just for their sake either.

^ I understand what you're saying there, Ron. I have a similar situation except I'm dealing with a likely ASD and my religious parents think God and church is all I need to cure myself, but they don't seem to think my brain is wired completely differently then they realise or accept. Church has been a source of stress for most of my life cause of people I will never fit in with. I can't not be "me" and I'm too different for the conformity they want.
