My daughter has suddenly got a phobia of all flying insects. A dragonfly flew in yesterday, and she totally freaked out. Perhaps she needs some kind of exposure therapy...

Pine Nuts cross contamination in my food. Every time I go out where there are pesto dishes, no matter how many times I have to tell them no pesto and I'd like to substitute, or if there's a dish where they claim it doesn' have pine nuts in it. I'm deathly allergic to them.

Claire, I think your daughter's going to have exposure therapy whether she wants it or not... kinda hard to avoid encountering flying insects these days. Be they mosquitos, bees or butterflies, they're everywhere. But, my heart does go out to her. It's not going to be easy for her if that's the way she feels about it.

Mandie, I hear you. I was deathly allergic to all nuts and all tree nuts as a child, and this is at a time when such allergies weren't really treated seriously. I once went into respitory arrest over two "original flavour" M&Ms because no nuts/tree nuts were listed in their ingredients (we always checked) but, turns out, they did use... peanut oil, I guess? Some oil from some nut, anyway. Two tiny pieces and I stopped breathing. Those weren't fun years.

Now, as for me, at some point, I'm gonna figure out what it is about family gatherings that stresses me out/scares me so much. Like, I'm already dreading the brunch on Sunday. And it's not that it will all turn out fine, because those are usually awkward for me, but it never will be the massive big deal that they build up to in my head.

That's true, Sunny. I think her having the exposure done carefully by a process will work better though..
