I miss my family

I called my mother's house this week. Well, Vanessa did, and said "Miss Kim wants to speak to you, do you want to speak to her?"

Mom said yes. I realized I didn't want to fight when I called. What's happened has happened, and neither of us can take it back. Won't ever trust her again, and angry sometimes, sad others-but they can't be changed,

I called because I wanted to know how my brother is doing, and that I had every right to know. So, he hasn't gotten any worse, which I was glad to hear, and I asked her to call if anything changed with him. She said yes, and I know she will.

So, it was pleasant, and few other topics, and then I said I just wanted to call and check on him, and that they were about to serve dinner, so I was going to end the call.

Good for you, Kim!

Good on you for realizing you didn't want to fight. It probably wouldn't have helped anyway, but considering everything she's put you through, it's really impressive that you chose to be the bigger person here.

And good on you, too, for realizing that you have to upper hand, in a way. Your mother would make herself look incredibly bad if she refused to even tell you how Kevin's doing when you can't see for yourself.

They've been here. They still need to come back, though, because there are a tonne of things not completed yet.

Most of my wall decorations are still waiting to be hung, for example.

I won't have a house warming of any sort, Kim! Are you kiddin me? This is my bubble. I'm on edge when family comes over. I couldn't handle them all at the same time.

My mother's been at my brother's since yesterday and will stay there till they come from from the hospital with the new baby, possibly Friday of next week.

Your mom sounds like the perfect candidate for right now. Do you know when you'll get a chance to see her? I forgot, boy or girl?

Did they name the baby yet?

It's a boy. They had a name for him, but we'll see if it sticks once he's born.

My mother's already had my sister-in-law call me twice. Once to try and take control of my cleaning-lady situation. The second to let me know that Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was on fire.

Did they name the boy yet? Do they have to do like here-name the baby before they can take it home?

My mother's always like that, except she doesn't realize that she is so there's no use pointing it out to her.

They do have a name for the baby, Tristan. I'm not sure it's a requirement to have a name for the baby in order to be allowed to take him home from the hospital, though. But they've had nine months to think about it, so they did come up with something.

My nephew, the one that's two years old, is freaking hilarious. He runs to "hide" and when you go "has anyone seen Sebastien?", he says "Seb gone" (in French) from wherever it is he is. Kid has no game. And the easiest way to make him giggle his head off is to make fart noises.

I like the name Tristan.

I called my mom, to check on everyone, for Easter today. She seemed really happy to hear from me, so that made me happy. We had a nice talk. I knew better, but I asked if Kevin and April (my cat) were keeping each other company. She said "April's been gone for months." I asked what happened to her, she called Animal Control to come get her. I can't imagine how scared and confused my kitty was, and I'm trying not to think about it.

Other than that, it was a really nice call though.
