I think when it comes to that, I get mad that I didn't speak up for myself at the time, and I get mad at myself for that, which makes it worse.

I think I tend to distract myself (that again

) which helps me get through it.

We're not perfect, okay? I'm sure we can all be mean and we all complain when the occasion arises. But don't get stuck on that. We all have our struggles and we all have bad days.

None of us is the worst thing we've done.

We do our best. And if the idea is to get better, then you need to focus on victories and not the little humps along the way.

That's true. I need to start a little journal of those kinds of victories. Or, in my calendar book.

That's a rabbit hole I hate to go down. Try and take it easy, and, as Sunny has said, try to distract yourself.

It's very emotional dealing with that. Also overwhelming, so maybe try and focus on little things. Or, do something nice for yourself-like music, nature, whatever works for you.

What can I do when everything just seems so hard? I saw a picture yesterday of basically the definition of alcoholism and I cried because the person's life in the picture was me. Little rant here, but My best friends of 15 years abandoned me without a word. Gone from my life like that. Not just one best friend, but my entire close group. The only people I thought I could really talk to. My only family moved states away and I never get to see or talk to them. My SO was the only person I had and I ended things about a month ago. The person I wish I could be with doesn't think twice about me except when it's convenient to them. I don't know if I'll have my job in a month, and I have to give up my self medication in the mean time. It's tough. Today is Day 1.

I don't know if I misread or misunderstood, so please bear that in mind when I say... dealing with alcoholism is no joke. My hat's off to you. Taking it one day at a time seems like a very wise decision to me.

Collins I'm sorry you've had to, and are still having to, deal with all of that. The only suggestion I have is to go out in the area, or, however, find what matters to you. What means the most to you, that only you can provide. Things that you can turn to, and rely on, when only you are around.

What Sunny said-that is huge. That is something only you can do, and if you can do that, I have faith you can do just about anything.

Now if I'd only take my own advice, I wouldn't be sleeping all day to avoid my life.

You know, you can go about your life and still be about 98% in complete avoidance of it. I should know.
