Irony.

That seems to be very true.

Speaking for myself, I need something to take me out of my own head, otherwise it gets pretty dicey.

I hope you have some time this week to be around others, so that helps.

I just couldn't get myself out of bed today. Well, until now.

Sometimes, even when things are going super well, one bad thought can wreck your self esteem, and send you to a dark place.
Luckily, I've been able to keep a good attitude since I got away from the supervisor who insidiously was tearing me down. (I didn't realize how bad it had gotten, until I didn't have her criticizing me all the time)
Getting to a job or situation that suits you is crucial. It won't fix everything, but it might make things bearable.
like I said on the other thread, I wasn't clinically depressed, or diagnosed...but it was starting to scare my mom (and Me). If I hadn't switched shifts, I don't know if I'd even still be here. so many people in my life commented on how much happier I am, now.

sorry for the rant, but I hope this can help someone.

this thread is so important for anyone who is suffering, and think that no one cares.

thank you for starting it, and keeping it going.

If the only person posting your thoughts helps is you, then it's still worth it.

I need to get out for the day if I'm depressed. Go on a walk on the trail. Eat ice cream. Go see my friends. Go see my family.

It's great that you know that about yourself.

I feel like it always helps when someone shares their experiences.

Knowing what works for you, and being able to do those things, is great.

I seem to be doing okay-able to brush things off when the "same old, same old" things come up. There are still days that knock me down, but things are better.

Glad to hear that Kim. I'm feeling a bit happier right now too.

I agree that getting out of the house is needed, exercise helps too.

I've had bad supervision too, it really affects your self-esteem. Really it's bullying. I'm glad you got away from it. I also didn't realise how much it affected me until I had a new job, with a lovely supervisor.

Someone else's freedom definitely stops where yours begin. It doesn't just go the other way round. Do whatever you can and you need to help yourself.

I'm glad you're feeling better Claire.

Everyone definitely needs to find ways to take care of ourselves.

When it comes to depression, no one can remove it for us. If medication is necessary and found helpful, then that helps. But the rest is a 100% inside job. So whatever you need to get the job done, there should be no shame in going after it.

Agreed.

I'm still so frustrated hearing "Cheer up". The whole don't worry be happy thing just serves to tick me off.

Oh, I understand that.

I try to remember that it's hard for people when they can't do anything to help, so they come out with lame things like "cheer up," but it's really not helpful at all.
