My yoga teacher tried to get me to do a headstand today...I'm way too scared to try because I feel like I'm going to overbalance and smack forwards onto my back

 I bet they would! Yoga is very good for you. Lisa used it to cure a back injury rather than have several risky operations when she was younger. And I'd love to be more supple. But I'm stiff as a board and always have been since I was a toddler, so I can't see it working for me. |

Cat - I'm really stiff too. I still can't touch my toes - I have short hamstrings
(And I'm very unfit generally  ) The thing I love most about yoga is how relaxed I feel afterwards.__________________

I think I'm far too accident prone to even try yoga out. I've got a pilates DVD that I crack out every now and then. Much more safe for clumsy little me __________________

I still nearly giggle each week when we chant at the beginning.
What's pilates like, Sylv? A friend of mine has just started it but they haven't done much yet so I don't really know what you do! __________________

Chanting. See, that's why I could never do yoga in public!
Pilates is very relaxing actually and not too hard at all, especially if you're a beginner like me (despite havin several books at the DVD for 3 years I don't do it as much as I should ). A lot of the focus is on breathing right, getting a good rhythm to it and just strengthening your muscles, or toning them up. I'm still working on my university-induced beer belly __________________

What do you chant about? Mum bought a pilates video once, but it's now gathering dust with every other exercise vid she's ever bought. |

What is it with mums and fitness videos?! My Mum is continually saying to me "help! I keep buying naughty things from Sainsbury's!" and I don't know what she expects me to do.... maybe I need to put a bakery aisle restraining order on her or something
