Book Lovers #8: the types of books we read may vary, but our love for books is united!

Just started a new thread. Not sure what title you guys want so I just wrote one. Happy to change it though!

Nope that title is perfect thanks!

Recently ordered this one. A lot of AAT's (ancient astronaut theorists) swear by it. And I don't blame them. When it comes to this kind of stuff Jim Marrs is one of the best. I read his book 'Alien Agenda' a long while back and I couldn't put it down.

So I'm thinking of putting the book I'm currently reading on hold so i can breeze through Paper Towns and then go back to it afterwards...

I saw the movie trailer for Paper Towns. Hope you enjoy the book.

So my mom pointed out the very obvious reason why I can't read fiction and why I'm constantly drawn to non-fiction. You'd think it be so easy to step out of reality for a while but for me it stems from my love of constant learning. I love education but on my terms and I love learning everything I can that I find of interest.

I just started the YA book the DUFF by Kody Keplinger (which is alot different from the movie) and I read 5 chapters in one sitting. Which is a big deal for me because I've been in a reading slump lately where I can't stick with a book.

That makes sense! I'm the complete opposite. I don't want to learn when I read. I want it to be an escape from my real world.

LOL yeah that makes sense to me too.

I seriously try to read fiction for that reason- as a way of escape but then I get so bored and lose interest pretty quickly.

I was going through my catalog yesterday to see how many fiction books I've read versus non-fiction. The numbers are pretty close:

Non-Fiction: 199

Fiction: 148

Still that leaves me with a 51 book difference.

I love soaking up everything I can about this world and the people in it. I can save the fiction world for movies and tv shows.

I've read that. but haven't seen the movie. Which one are you finding to be better?

I haven't seen the movie myself but my friend told me about it and so far I like the book premise better, but they are so different the word 'the duff' and some similiarities in characters seems to be the only things alike.
