New thread

I hope you find something soon Kelly. You think they could have at least waited till after the new year to close, kind of puts a downer on your christmas.

Think i may have to actually go get my eyes checked, they've been a bit sore the last week or so

Okay just got 1Gb of RAM added to the PC, now running 2Gb total.

Don't think I'll bother with upgrading to Win7 as the cost doesn't make sense. But I'll do some HDD upgrades soon.

Put 2 new 2Tb in the PC, leave the 160Gb as the C drive. Put the 2x 1Tb in the Mac and have a 500 and 250 sata left over.

Thanks, me too
Yeah, but on Sunday Coles opened for the Christmas month...and we're not doing too well so we're closing on the next Thursday.

Coles will get they way now open every Sundays, like they tried before but they couldn't
They will go to the local Council again to get their Sundays. sucks.

I hand in the Work shirts today

I hope your eyes are ok

Most place I've work I've had to buy the shirts, what did yours look like?

I'm in a much bigger town/area being on the Sunshine coast so we have Coles/Woolworths and all the rest so can't comment on that.

Hey Clint that PC shop has DDR1 RAM for $70 each so a good $30 less than most other, and that's only about $80 more (total) than on line prices, so I might get the G5 RAM there and install it myself.

Kels, blame your WA Liberal Party for overturning the referendum from a few years ago regarding Sunday/late night trading, the government who is in power at the time has the right to do these things on occasions when they feel it is for the 'greater good'. Same could apply one day to DLS. They can overturn these referendums and take land that you own at any time. Another reason WA sux. Labor has never used this power when it comes to any Referendum, they have 'taken' land though... Usually to extend Highways beyond what was allowed for 30 years ago. Armadale Road for example has allocated extra lanes that atm look like grassy areas - I can see clearly that it was allocated many years ago to make that road a 3 lane Hwy in the future. 3 lanes each way. I have seen it before and see it now here and there. Easier to see the areas when useing Google Earth.

Netty, in what way are your eyes sore? Could just be a cold/flu starting up or Hayfever? Lack of sleep perhaps?

Craig, Be sure that when you do install the RAM that it is all the exact same Brand/Model/Make/number etc etc etc. Blast the entire area free of dust with an air gun or a can of air. Also, turn off the computer and unplug from the power point then leave for several minutes before doing anything. You do not want to short anything... Have you replaced the Lithium button battery on the MB yet? It should be ready for a new battery by now (5 years.)

Not replaced the battery and yes I'll be careful, I don't have a TAFE IT certificate

But I was a bit surprise with the PC shop, they used a dust pan brush to clean the RAM slots before putting in the new one. I'd buy all 4 at the same time (Kingston) so they should all match. The Mac required matching pairs so you can't just put in 1 or 3.

BTW I like the option of Sunday and late night trading, especially leading up to xMas.

That sounds pretty dodgy using a brush... I hate it when people get compacent in their jobs or even at home. That is what that sounds like. They might as well have just blown with their spitty mouths to clean the slots and adding spit to the slot...

Well this is where you need to use an air can and non static small brush. Actually for a business they should have a compressor on had to help clean the slots... well 24 hours later and its still running. I guess if they has broken it they would have to fix/replace it.

I'm thinking if I buy the RAM from them I might install it in my G5. The slots are already being used so if I give it a quick blow before, let the dust settle then all should be fine to do the switch and double the RAM.

I agree that using a dust pan brush to clean the slots is a bit dodgy, could have used a air gun or something.

Think my eyes are sore for a couple of reasons. Eye strain from looking at small numbers at work, too much time in front of computer and probably the hot weather and lack of sleep... and its been years since i've had them checked.

I'm sure there's an iPhone app to test your eyes, I got one for my hearing.

Maybe you can DL an eye chart and print it up?

Yeah the brush thing has made me re-consider taking in the G5, I might buy the RAM there and put it in myself. An early xMas gift to myself. I'll wait until the new year to do the HDDs.

Quite here today...

So just put a few things on eBay and also bought a 2Tb HDD for the PC.

I decided to get just 1 right now, I settled on just one 2Tb at this time for several reason but mostly cost. I'll replace the the 2 IDE drives and one of the 1Tb HDDs to give my PC about 0.5Tb of extra storage. And put that one iTb into my G5 replacing the 2nd 250Gb HDD. I was told but someone the WD green HDDs are not suitable for the boot or 'C' drive but aren't they 7200rpm anyway? The money I got from selling the other DVDs mostly covered the new HDD cost. I'll have to wait until I'll paid for the print jobs before getting the G5 RAM.

So no rain here today, it's been quite warm, about 27ºC today. But we're expecting more rain over the weekend.
