One of my favourite authors wrote like, a prequel fanfic from Sharpay's POV about how she and Troy interacted in the years leading up to when Gabriella arrived and I find it really fascinating to think about it - I don't necessarily think that they ever dated or anything, but Sharpay isn't the type to stay around obsessing about a boy who blatantly ignores her or anything, so I wouldn't be surprised if Troy had played his part in her crush developing.

well I think that Troy never really was into Shar in the ''love'' kind of way, since Gabi came and knocked him off of his feet the interest in Shar couldn't be that big, so I think he was more interested in a friendship with her or more like he wanted to integrate her into his 'friends group'

Yes Tess, I can see that more. Troy is just a friendly type of guy so it would be easy for Sharpay to read his friendliness as something more on his part. So while I can't excuse Troy for his behavior at Lava Springs we all know that once Sharpay has set on something in her head she's pretty focused about getting what she wants. That's one of the things that I admire about her actually. Not the boy stealing

This this this this. I so entirely agree with this. I think some girls, when they're crazy about a guy, they need to be told bluntly more than once 'I'm not interested.' Sharpay made really, really clear to Troy during HSM2 how she felt - no matter how obtuse Troy is, he can't possibly have not realised she was interested. He did once be all 'I have an our thing with Gabriella...' but after that he didn't really do much to stop her flirtations. If this is Troy with a girlfriend, I can see similar sorts of things going on pre-HSM - it's just Troy being friendly, not really wanting to be 'mean' and have to let her down but some girls need that in order to face the reality that the feelings may not be mutual.
