Welcome to the FanFiction thread here at the High School Musical board on FanForum. Below is a list of stories recommended and considered to be high quality from the various couplings in HSM. The list is long and attempts to cover the best of the best from the various couples, however, it is nowhere near all of the must reads out there. Stories are discovered all the time so you as readers are encouraged to post links to more stories no matter the pairing.

Please explore the suggested links in the OP or other stories added frequently through posts. Some of the below stories are found on fanfiction.net, and others on various sites beyond that scope. The pairings have been grouped based on the volume of those suggested pairings, as well as the story links themselves are categorized based on the most recent updates. Oneshots, for the sake of space, have been grouped within the category of ‘Completed’.

Honestly, I don't think I'm sharing. I'm going to use it as my 'progressing with writing fic' to help me improve my writing as a whole.

Sometimes, writing things that aren't going to be judged are the best and most fun I would love it if you did share, but I totally get where you're coming from right now

I don't know. My last fic didn't really... work for me if that makes sense? I felt almost disappointed with the response considering how much effort I put in. I guess I need to do something that will make ME feel better, you know?

Apparently you've learn to mind read.

I don't want to talk too much about myself, but what I'm learning from the situation I'm currently in is that sometimes, failure is what we need to pick us back up. I'm most definitely not saying that you failed in your last story -it was beautifully written and you've improved greatly - but what I've found is that because I tried something and it did not come out the way I wanted it to, it led me into the right direction and gave me the strength I needed to push in the direction I had been too scared to do previously. I SHOULD have wrote what I was afraid of, but instead I wrote what I thought everyone else was writing... and it blew up in my face. I should have known what was best for me and what my strengths are, as you will discover with more experience writing. You'll find what's best for you, and like I said... sometimes it's your low points that will bring you to greatness.

But ultimately... write what will make you happy. The rest will come

I know exactly what you mean because the same thing happened to me. I tried my hand at angst because everybody else was writing it and as much as I seemed to enjoy writing it, people didn't seem to enjoy reading it as much.

I think it all sort of becomes a blur because everything happens so fast and then you start wondering why you even posted it in such haste. I think I need to write something that is within my capabilities but challenges me slightly to better myself which I think this fic does. I believe I need to improve myself as oppose to becoming a whole new author.

Thanks for sharing your feelings and advice because it helps me feel more humane. You're awesome.
