My cousin closest in age to me turned 18 last year and it does make you feel old - like I always think of her as this cute little kid and here she is graduating high school and going out nightclubbing now.

Well, i've never thought of my niece as cute (tbh, most of the things i've though of her can't be on ) but its just strange....she's living with her BF now as well!

I'm terrified of when my younger cousins will be living with partners. It's bad enough that mine has had the same BF for six months. I know my mum gets asked from her family 'so any man in Danielle's life?' like it is the expectation that there SHOULD be one.

That's so ridiculous, the notion that there should be a Bf, that's it's "not right" if there isn't once you're in your twenties or something - some of my relatives are the same way with that.

I don't mean to sound pretentious but I'm one of the only 'educated' women in my family. Most of the other cousins just left high school, fell pregnant, got married... most of them are happy and I'm happy that they have succeeded in creating solid family environments but that's just not for me at this point in my life and there isn't anything wrong with that.

Know that one dani... though for me its more that im the baby girl...and my siblings are so much older with kids and stuff... mom even asked if i was lesbian cause i dont have a boyfriend... parents!

I had that once with my phone!!! I had a pic of Zac on my phone wallpaper and someone asked me if it was my boyfriend. A) Look at him, look at me.... b) helloooo??

I'm so glad that my mom never put any of those expectations on me. She was always "Get your degree first boys will be there later." So imagine her shock and surprise when I up and eloped right after graduation. People, especially girls, should be allowed to lead their own lives and find their own way. I really don't recall boys having the same expectations unless they are much older...

I feel like my family are of that 'older' generation - but really my generation is one of the first where it was common to have desires to travel and where studying at a higher level has become 'expected' in order to get anywhere higher in life sort of thing. They just don't quite get that it's just not a priority for me - sure if I met Mr. Perfect tomorrow maybe my priorities will change but it's not like I feel that biological clock or anything. I sometimes feel lonely, want a companion, that sort of thing - but not in order to achieve what is some 'expectation' or whatever.
