Welcome to the Volturi Appreciation thread

The Volturi are considered royalty among vampires and have been in existence for at least 3,000 years. They are the most influential and largest coven, residing in the city of Volterra, Italy.

More on the Volturi:

They are also considered 'nighttime patrons of the arts' because of their inability to sleep, they study the arts at night. The Volturi act as guardians, keeping the secret society of vampires hidden from the human world as needed. They often send others to travel from Volterra to destroy overzealous covens from exposing vampires by mass eradication of every vampire (and any humans nearby) present. In the Twilight series, the Volturi are becoming an increasing problem, as they want Bella turned into a vampire as soon as possible, while Edward at the time didn't want her to become a vampire. They also went to Forks, Washington to destroy Victoria's evil coven of young vampires, as they were being a menace to the neighbouring city, Seattle. However, by the time they arrived, the fight had already ended and the werewolves had to escape as the Volturi do not tolerate truces with werewolves.

Demetri - he's a tracker and can find people using their mind

Note: I'm unsure if we know Demetri's special powers or not. If anyone can clarify that, let me know

Great idea for a thread Nad! I think we'll probably will learn more about the Volturi in BD The characters have a lot of potential. I'd love to see Aro meeting Carlisle - with their shared past & totally different points of view it should be interesting.

I have high hopes for BD as well . There's so much info that's still unknown - especially when it comes to how powerful they really are.

I don't think, the list of special powers we've learned about so far is complete - with 3,000+x years of experience I bet there's more.

Great idea for a thread! The Volturi are such a mystery to me. I want to learn more about them, so I'm hoping for all that in Breaking Dawn. And no matter how nice Aro seems, he still gives me the heeby-jeebies.

Aro is creepy He seems to the 'head of the family', the one who makes the decision in the end. I wonder what his ultimate goal is Any ideas?

i have the same feeling and it's great cause they are so interesting being so mysterious and well I want Aro, Caius and Marcus to meet up with Carlisle again

Aro's ultimate goal? Good question though, ultimate power for his family? They already are the "unofficial" royal family of the vampires and have more influence than any other coven, but one can never be powerful enough .

Both Aro and Carlisle seem to be very strong about their opinions how to live, I wanna see that in action

I can see them clashing about their opinions Aro and the rest of the volturi obviously don't believe in Carlisle's 'diet'.

I'm sure that would be an interesting talk/discussion.
