Okay, I was on the MST board and saw Mel's avatar and was driven to come here

Who is that man?

I've never heard of twilight. I'll have to read more to find out what it's about. When does it start?

He's a representation of a character in the book..Jacob Black. You should definetly read them! They're amazing, right up there with Harry Potter, etc. The first novel is Twilight, and it's followed by New Moon and Eclipse.

Oh... I thought this was going to be a TV series and that was the actor in it

Well, they're making it into a movie...I think it's coming out at the end of the year or early next year, if that helps ;-)

The role of Jacob in the movie hasn't been cast yet, but I think that pic is Steven Strait.

Yep, at this point you'll have to read.

I found it took a bit to get into 'Twilight' but by the end, I wanted to know what happened next. 'New Moon' and 'Eclipse' are my favourites.

I am amazed about the votes too... 254 and counting, more than 100 votes ahead of HSM

I never expected us to as well as we are doing now.

Regarding the movie... one the one hand I am really looking forward to it on the other hand I am scared to see it

I feel the same way. More often than not the movie adaptations turn out not so well LOL. But Stephenie Meyer seems pretty confident about it, and I can so picture Robert Pattinson as Edward
