As someone above did, I will be going a little into my religious beliefs...

1. What does the word soul mean to you?
I believe what exactly a "soul" is is part of the unknown/unseen. However, every single human being has a soul that departs every night when he/she goes to sleep and returns if the person wakes up, and then the other soul is taken at death, so according to this, no vampire could ever possibly have a soul. (not that there are such things as vampires in real life / and this fact is obviously overlooked in fiction)

2. Do you think it's possible to be immortal on earth and have a soul at the same time? Explain.
Well, realistically speaking, I don't believe anyone or anything can ever be immortal except for God...

3. Do you think having a soul indicates if someone is "good" or not?
Not necessarily. I mean, Hitler had a soul... Souls are just what humans have... it's the conscience that actually matters.

4. Last of all, do you think vampires have a soul?
Obviously not. But that doesn't mean they can't have a conscience.

First of all, I think most of us are speaking in theory. I noticed we shared some of the same beliefs, but in the end not many. I do believe that every night the soul departs when the human goes to sleep and returns when the human wakes up. However I also believe animals have souls, but their souls don't leave them when they sleep. I only eat my meat full cooked, because I think eating medium rare meat or raw meat (which is not safe) would result in mixing a human soul with an animal soul, because it's not fully dead if there is still blood present within the meat.

Now if one is considered that one needs to have blood to be alive, then that would automatically mean that vampires are dead, which of course they are by scientific standards, but somehow they are still able to move around and function without a heartbeat. I believe it is the soul that makes that possible.

Honestly, I don't know if vampires exist or not (I have feeling if they do they are nothing like the ones in the Twilight universe or like the ones of the typical vampire myths.) I believe that we (humans) if they (vampires) do exist, we aren't supposed to know that they do. I believe what is important for humans is to worry about our fellow humans, animals, and other life that we are rare of instead of trying to prove mythical creatures exist. If we're supposed to know then same day this information will be brought to our attention. (I hope that didn't offend anyone.)

I definitely lean more towards if Twilight vampires were real they would have a soul side then they wouldn't have a soul side. I want to say though no matter which side would be correct, I don't think not having a soul means that someone is evil. I don't believe angels have souls.

I hope I didn't come off as being too preachy. I totally respect your opinion and I'm glad you brought a other view to the table.

I know in the books it says when they transform, there hearts stop. But I don't recall it saying for how long. I take that to mean they have died.

I personally believe that just the fact they have feelings, they don't want to kill people, they have a real life going on, they have dreams, they have expectations, hopes.. this all shows just how big of a soul they have just walking and functioning body wouldn't be able to have all that

I think the key is also that the person believes they have/don't have a soul. For instance, in relation to Twilight, Carlisle believes that they all have souls. It also means that they have *something* (morality, love, acceptance, etc.) at stake to lose.

Edward, on the other hand, doesn't completely believe that he has a soul. He, through and through, believes that he's nothing but a monster. He is - in the literal sense of the term. But, his actions prove otherwise... or he would have had nothing stopping him from killing Bella and the other "children" that day in Biology class.

In the same sense, even humans can be monsters by committing heinous crimes. Sometimes, I wonder if those people are *soul-less*.

Anyone read the book We Need to Talk About Kevin? Now that's someone who shows that humans can be *soul-less* and feel as if there is nothing to lose, so crimes are nothing to them.

1. What does the word soul mean to you?
I see the soul as something that makes us living. And I don't mean alive, like breathing, but really living. Making choices, experiencing emotions, expressing opinions. I also think a soul is kind of like the human conscience. It makes us feel regret over bad things we do or feel compassion for others, among other things.

2. Do you think it's possible to be immortal on earth and have a soul at the same time? Explain.
Yes, I do. To draw on Twilight; I don't see how Edward could love Bella, or Alice Jasper, or so on, so incredibly much without having a soul.

3. Do you think having a soul indicates if someone is "good" or not?
I think having a soul gives someone the choice to be good or bad. I don't think "bad" people don't have souls. I just think they've made bad decisions.

4. Last of all, do you think vampires have a soul.
In BtVS, no. In Twilight, of course.

have you ever heard the phrase "You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body." Yup, this was said by CS Lewis and I couldn't agree more. A soul, to me at least, is the very essence of each's life and it determinates your personality.

Yes, I do. I believe souls never die. Where do they go then after our bodies die?? Well, that's a whole new discussion.
Do you think having a soul indicates if someone is "good" or not?
Not at all. Maybe some souls are just bad.
Last of all, do you think vampires have a soul?
(In Twilight?) Yes. Althought they're not suppose to exist. And I agree with Bella. How can someone as good as Edward (all the Cullens actually) not have a soul?

It has always baffled me when Edward or the werewolves said that. I don't see how it's possible for something to exist that isn't supposed to, not even in a fictional universe. I think the fact that something exists means that it is supposed to exist.
