^ yer not sure if i like it more then New moon yet! need to re-watch it and see it has some great moments in this movie though ans some fine looking men

the Bella Jacob/ Edwards scenes are acted it so well . Taylor as Jacob the anger and hurt was well done . The scene that i didn't like from them three would probably be the scene after the kiss that's was so funny to look at not cause of the scene but they way they acted it i prefer what happen in the book was a better way to go about it

Breaking Dawn going to be interesting ................... im still having troubles to why its going to be two movies?

The most obvious reason of why it's going to be 2 movies is bc Summitt wants to milk out this series as much as possible.

Eclipse first night | how much Eclipse made | Eclipse record
Quote:
More records…

The newest numbers have Eclipse putting up a $68.5 million total on its first day, breaking the Wednesday opening record of $62 million set by Transformers 2.

The film also had the biggest summer period opening ever, beating Dark Knight ($67.2 million).

ORIGINAL POST – 6/30/10

It was a total Eclipse from the start.

The blockbuster third installment of The Twilight Saga opened to more than $30 million on its first night in North America.

It surpasses the previous midnight opening record holder, which was the second Twilight installment, New Moon, at $26.3 million.

It’s too early to know whether Eclipse will top New Moon’s (full) first day record of $72.7 million.

The movie also set a new IMAX record for midnight grosses with over $1 million from 192 theaters, beating Transformers 2’s $959,000.

Gossip Cop will have updates…

DEVELOPING…

The one scene that I had the biggest issue with was the EB scene after the JB kiss. So much more needed to be said and in the movie it was only 3 lines

Those are some pretty impressive records and numbers

Yeah she came back and said "I don't know what happened..."
He said "You love him"
She says "I love you more"
Him "I know"

Needed a bit more but I was still okay with it. Better than nothing at all.

Didn't break the single day record or single day opening record but that is held by NM still so it's still good

I agree more could have been said in that part, but at the same time I have mixed feelings because it's like Kristen said in NM. How they can just forgive each other and understand each other without using words. So it makes sense and that's beautiful because Edward is secure enough to say "I know" and believe her so quickly but at the same time it could have used more interaction ... I dunno ... I want to see it again so bad but I am going on vacation so I can't!

i really enjoyed the meadow scene after bella goes to visit jake. i thought she really hit it on the nail that it wasn't jake v. edward it was who she is vs. who she should be. that was SO beautiful.

Probably that and because Breaking Dawn was the longest book and it had three stories in one so if they didn't break it, the whole movie would be rushed. We wouldn't see much of the Edward&Bella honeymoon, we wouldn't see much of Jacob POV and we won't see much of other stuff so I understand it being in two movies, this way everything doesn't have to seemed rushed.

Yes, that was . And I think the record wasn't broken only because it opened on a Wednesday instead of a Friday, to be honest.

Just got back from seeing the movie and

Edward & Bella: Where do I even begin with these two? I was grinning the entire time there was a scene with them, especially the bed makout scene. Damn that was hot! And Bella saying yes to Edward's authentic proposal was to die for!

And the meadow sequences were absolutely perfect. I love how Bella was straddling him in the first meadow scene. Thought that was cute. And the final meadow scene near the end was totally thud-worthy. To see Edward place the ring on Bella's finger for one final time was just beautiful!

I loved how we got to see Edward's transformation from despising Jacob and wanting to nearly kill him to respecting him somewhat near the end.

I so continue to be Team Bella! The wigs didn't even bother me. I feared they might only because there was so much talk about them but I had no trouble whatsoever. Seeing Bella's sacrifice was perfect. She became the 3rd wife without killing herself and it worked.

The Bon Fire: Definately a cool scene.

First I loved how we had this brotherly type love between Jake & Seth. It seriously seems like Seth should be his brother and not Leah's because their chemistry worked.

The Quiluete (sp?) history was awesome. I loved how we got to see a visual of it rather than just hear the story being told. And the story of the 3rd wife, so beautiful to see that moment on screen, nearly brought me to tears!

Jake: Definately liked him more in this one (when he wasn't pinning for Bella). He did the anger extremely well.

The Pack: Though not as much dialogue we did get to see enough of them (shirtless I might add ) and then to see the wolf pack come out of the woods together was incredible. I really like the work they did on the wolves. They looked more real this time around than in New Moon.

The Cullens: Was thrilled that we had more scenes with them this time! It's about time! Everyone was great and we even got to see Esme kick ass which was awesome!

Rosalie: Reading her history was hard enough, visualizing it was heartbreaking, but to see it on screen was just tragic. I'm glad she got revenge on Royce. That SOB deserved it. Was so thrilled when we even got to see Vampire Bride Rosalie. When they showed the doors hammering and Royce being afraid I was afraid that that would be it. I really liked visualizing Rosalie in the kind of Bridezilla thing so I'm glad they didn't cheat us on that. (LOL I did want to see her tear into the bastard but can't get everything). I was satisfied.

Jasper: Really glad we got to learn Jasper's story on the battlefield. I thought in the books, the story being told in the Cullen house was a little plain. Location definately makes a difference so I'm glad they changed things up a bit. And his story, again great to have an on screen visual of it. They cut out Peter and Charlotte's part in his life and for that I was a little bummed but all worked well.

Bella & Charlie: We got the sex talk, we got the sex talk, we got the sex talk!!!! That was one of the best BC moments in the book and I feared this would be something that would be cut but they used it and for that I am eternally greatful! Sex talks are always so awkward and to see Charlie trying with Bella was great. And his last comment to himself when Bella went upstairs was great- how Bella was a virgin and how he started to like Edward a little more because of that. Perfect.

All their other little moments were great too.

Bella & Renee: Not much to them there but I did enjoy the scene. Though Bella was thinking about her future and the sadness it would bring, not being able to see her mom it was also bittersweet.

The Fight Sequence: Can I just say, damn!!! Loved it all. We got to see the Cullens and Pack in action which was just incredible. I loved seeing them work together. And then to see Paul and Emmett help each other out when they had scuffled earlier was perfect. Poor Jake though. I mean we all knew that scene was coming but to see him actually get hurt and in pain, it broke my heart.

Victoria: Wahoo, I had no issue with the replacement, ie Bryce Dallas Howard, as Victoria. All I saw was Victoria and no one else. But to comment on BDH, she did an excellent job. I was overly impressed with her work. And then to see Victoria's death, I was blown away!

Riley: Seeing his story was pretty sad. Just a regular guy like anyone else who happened to get caught in Victoria's web. He was an awesome villian.

Bree Tanner: Though not in the movie that long, much like the book, I did read 'The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner' novella so it was easy to feel sympathetic towards her. I so badly wish she would have lived. It would have been awesome to have had her as a new member of the Cullen family. She was a scared kid and I'm sure with the Cullen's influence she woudl've been okay.

Billy Black & Carlisle Cullen: Though a small moment it was one that certainly stood out. I loved how Billy thanked Carlisle and offered his hand which Carlisle shook in return. It was like a final truce had been made between them, what with Billy being on the council and Carlisle being the head of his clan.

~*~*~*~*~*~

The Soundtrack: I've been listening to the music for a while so I was anxious to see which songs were gonna go where and it all totally worked. My favorite song, well one of them since I have many favorites, was "My Love" by Sia. I thought that song fit perfectly in the Edward/Bella bed moment. Oh and I gotta mention Claire de Lune! I loved it the first time in Twilight and for them to use it again here when Bella entered the Cullen house to be with Edward was absolutely beautiful.

Howard Shore- The Score: I had listened to the music earlier and was kind of hesitant about it. Though the Alexander Desplat (New Moon) score is my favorite of the three, I thought given the darkness of this particular film, Howard did a wonderful job.

Final Thoughts: I'm sure I'm leaving tons of stuff out but this post all ready feels a mile long. Definately the best of the three and I anxiously await 'Breaking Dawn'. There was just enough love story and enough action to keep me on the edge of my seat. Can't wait to see it again and maybe a third time.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Opens to $68.5 Million

Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse earned an estimated $68.5 million its first day which is a new record for a Wednesday opening, surpassing previous record holder Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen ($62 million). The third installment debuted in a record 4,416 theaters.

While the opening day is not as big as The Twilight Saga: New Moon's record of $72.7 million, if the estimate holds it would still be the second-best single day and opening day ever and would knock The Dark Knight ($67.2 million) to third.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse cost about $68 million to make, but that's not counting the promo campaign for the film.

Directed by David Slade and written by Melissa Rosenberg, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone and Dakota Fanning.

Eclipse Eclipses Everything—Except…

A record-setting midnight can't be wrong: Eclipse made a whole lot of money yesterday.

The third Twilight film grossed an estimated $68.5 million, besting the opening-day mark of every movie ever released—except New Moon.

To one box office analyst, there's no mystery in why Eclipse was unable to eclipse its elder sibling.

"Honestly," Exhibitor Relations' Jeff Bock said today, "the only reason is that [Eclipse] opened on a Wednesday instead of a Friday [like New Moon]." (I AGREE. AND WRONG CHOICE BY SUMMIT. FRIDAY MAKES MORE MONEY)

The quirks of the calendar did not prevent Eclipse from setting a couple of new records: The movie is now the biggest Wednesday grosser ever, topping Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, and, more impressive, the biggest single summer-day grosser ever, beating the box office's still-ultimate summer movie, The Dark Knight.

Eclipse's dual single-day and opening-day mark is the new No. 2 of all time, behind New Moon's ultimate $72.7 million haul. And, of course, Eclipse owns the midnight record, with nearly half of its Wednesday take, some $30 million, coming from night-owl screenings.

Reputedly produced for just under $70 million, Eclipse should top $100 million overall today. By the end of Sunday, it could have anywhere from $160 million to $175 million or more in the domestic bank.

Said Bock: "That's box office bite like we've never seen before."

Eclipse Opening Day Figures are In…

According to estimates ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ brought in $68.5 million (including the $30 million midnight showing figure)!!

While that doesn’t beat the massive $72 million that ‘New Moon’ brought in, this does set a new record for Wednesday openings, beating ‘Transformers 2′ $62 million opening day. ‘Eclipse’ has also broken the record for highest single Summer Day opening, ‘The Dark Knight’ held that title with $67.2 million.

So bar, Box Office experts are saying the ‘Eclipse’ is on track for a $180 million dollar opening 5 day weekend!!

Eclipse' Has Biggest Wednesday-Night Opening Ever

According to early reports the 'Twilight' movie's first-day take is $65 million, breaking 'Transformers 2' record. This weekend could go down in history as the Fourth of July when the vampires and werewolves took over. Based on preliminary figures from Wednesday night's opening of "Eclipse," Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the third "Twilight" movie is expected to have the best-ever mid-week opening in history, with a $65 million haul.

If the numbers hold — final figures from the studio are expected later in the day — that would mean that "Eclipse" would easily beat the $62 million Wednesday opening record set by "Transformers 2" last summer. The numbers included $30 million alone from 12:01 a.m. and 3 a.m. screenings at more than 4,000 North American theaters. "Eclipse" already broke the record for midnight grosses, last year's "New Moon," which raked in $26.3 million on its opening night.

"Eclipse" also set a new record for the biggest-ever release in Hollywood history, rolling out in 4,416 domestic theaters and breaking the "Iron Man 2" record of 4,380.

Among the other records it beat, Deadline reported that "Eclipse" took in more than $1 million at 192 theaters showing the movie in the IMAX format, beating the $959,000 banked by "Transformers 2" during its Wednesday night opening. The next record in sight is the all-time biggest Fourth of July opening-weekend crown, currently held by "Spider-Man 2" at $180 million. Current projections call for "Eclipse" to come in around the $142 million range, but with strong word-of-mouth and a broader appeal to both men and women this time around, it's possible the movie could end up having an even bigger take.

EW talks to Melissa Rosenberg about Eclispe and Breaking Dawn

Melissa Rosenberg has been Stephenie Meyer’s big-screen translator since the first Twilight movie debuted back in 2008. With a new director coming on to each film, Rosenberg’s constant presence has helped ensure Meyer’s story stays constant throughout the saga. Also, in Eclipse, since director David Slade isn’t a writer, all the words spoken by your favorite characters came straight from Rosenberg’s computer. We checked in with the screenwriter, who recently left her day job as showrunner of Showtime’s hit series Dexter to direct her attention completely to the Twilight series. The California native took a break from pre-production on Breaking Dawn to chat with us.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did writing Eclipse compare to the last two books?

MELISSA ROSENBERG: For me, Eclipse was my favorite book of the first three, for sure. The triangle comes to a head and that creates some really tense conflict, which is always good when you’re trying to write scenes. This is the third act of the story because Breaking Dawn goes off into completely new territory. That, and the huge battle we build to throughout the movie, was compelling. What was funny was Eclipse ended up being the hardest to write. That big battle happens in the third act, so it was all about pulling some of the conflict and danger forward to lace throughout the story. It became quite the challenge. But in the end, it was quite fun because I got to fill out some of the mythology, such as the character of Riley, the newborn army, Victoria, and everything that was going on that you can’t do in the book because it’s from Bella’s point-of-view.

Was there conferencing with Stephenie for those scenes?

Oh yeah.

Do you write and then show her, or do you talk to Stephenie ahead of time?

A little of both, actually. One of the things she did that helped me with enormously was she let me read The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner in advance, and that was really useful in terms of what was going on outside [Bella's world], so I was able to imagine it. I would come up with stuff and bounce it off of her and she gave me the short story and I pulled a few ideas from that.

How did you keep the momentum going throughout the story since the battle is at at the end?

It was about threading all the danger and the threat through the beginning and the middle of the story. It was a real challenge. It was also a challenge because Bella is our way into the movie. Bella is our point of view. Because of the two guys fighting over her in the story, she’s so reactive. Which is fine for a book. It works beautifully. For a movie, you can’t have your lead just standing there reacting. It was a lot about how to keep her active in the middle of this tug-of-war.

How did you make her more active?

Small things. In the book, Jacob shows up at her workplace and talks her into getting on the back of the motorcycle. He sort of steals her away. In the movie, it’s really Bella that decides to do this, and she initiates that in front of the school. It’s a small change. But these moments add up. In the book, there are some scenes of her being affectionately kidnapped by Alice. That was pulled out to keep her strong and keep her active.

Have you experienced celebrity from being a part of the franchise?

People don’t recognize me in the street, so it doesn’t really change my life. But people know my name, and it helps me get great restaurant reservations in New York. That completely surprised me. When I most feel it is when I go to an event of some sort, and it’s lovely. Screenwriters are so rarely acknowledged for what they do. Most people don’t understand what we do. So it’s just great, and always surprising.

How was working with [Eclipse director] David Slade?
In all honesty, it was terrific. Now, I’m working with [Breaking Dawn director] Bill Condon on the next one. I think someone just chooses well. I had a really great collaboration with all four directors.

What was this collaboration like?

There was more of a collaboration because David is not a writer, so he kept me more involved throughout the production. Basically with Chris [Weitz] on New Moon, I handed him the draft and moved off to Eclipse. He’s a terrific writer so he was handling production rewrites. Same for Catherine [Hardwicke]. But with this one, I was much more involved, for better or worse. Pretty much every word up there is mine. I shouldn’t say that, they’ll know who to blame it on. [Slade] is very, very respectful of the script and kept everyone on the page. He planned in great detail ahead of time. He wants it all on the page locked before he starts shooting, so he can really design some great shots and great sequences. My favorite part was he did a lot of storyboarding in advance. I’d have a script, it’d have an action sequence. He would then take that sequence and storyboard how he wants to see it. He would then walk me through the storyboards, and I’d put it back into the screenplay the way he wants to do it. So, it’d be on the page and it would be this back and forth. He’d be sorta acting it out. He’s a very animated guy! He thinks in visual terms. So, it was a lot of fun.

Do you have a favorite moment of the film?

I have a couple of them but one is a small moment. It’s one of my favorites: When Bella tells Charlie, her dad, that she’s a virgin. I just love that! Their chemistry together is fantastic. That Billy Burke is so funny!

Do you find it challenging to deal with the religious overtones in the books?

What’s always kind of amazed me is that Stephenie and I probably are polar opposites in terms of our political and spiritual beliefs. I’m raised in a hot tub from Marin County, [Calif.]. I couldn’t be further left. She’s a very religious Mormon. In truth, we’ve never talked politics. We’ve never talked religion. We just haven’t. It hasn’t come up. The only thing that comes up is that I swear like a truck driver and she doesn’t. And I drink and she doesn’t drink. But she doesn’t ever judge me for either of those things. It’s important for me that I not violate my own beliefs and I won’t write something that does. It was interesting that within all of these movies, certainly within Breaking Dawn, you can peel away some of the stuff that is more to the right and some of the anti-choice stuff and there is a core, real human experience. You don’t have to go there. You can tell the story without doing that. That was important to me, but I had to respect her beliefs as well. I can’t violate her beliefs. It’s kinda where the blue and the red come together. At the core of it, it’s about a woman choosing to have a child. That is as pro-choice as you get. That doesn’t violate anything that Stephenie believes in, and that doesn’t violate the story. It’s about finding the common ground. What’s really important: These are Twilight movies. This is entertainment. It is not the forum to be making political commentary. It’s just not. Nobody wants to turn this into a referendum on abortion. It’s inappropriate.

Do you think the scene with Edward refusing Bella enforces the conservative views?

Yeah, but you have the other side of that. The other part of that conversation is Bella asking, “What are you, a dinosaur?” She has her own values that are every bit as legitimate. She doesn’t admit he is right, and she isn’t ashamed to have asked him to do that. It comes down to you can be who you are. There’s nothing wrong with someone believing that. It’s only when you start forcing other people to believe the same thing. It’s about a girl who is embracing and embodying her own sexuality. She’s unapologetic about that. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a portrayal of a young girl who has sexual desire. I think that’s something we avoid a lot – this concept that girls are actually desirous. So I’m pleased to have this character who’s um…you know…randy! There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s a very healthy place to be.

How has your relationship with Stephenie evolved over the years?

It’s been great. When I started out, I was nervous. She’s the author of these books. I was really worried she was going to subsume my process. So I kept her at bay for the first half of the first one. In the middle of writing it, I met her and went, oh, wow, my fears are completely unfounded. She is someone who is really collaborative and not precious about the work. If there’s a better idea out there — if I saw a scene different then she saw it, she’s really open to it. Which is…shocking. Once I got that about her, I began to use her as a resource a great deal more. Since then, that’s only deepened and expanded. She’s been a great collaborator, I’d have to say one of my favorite collaborations, ever. She’s one of my main sources. Whenever I’m stuck on something, I’ll call or email her for ideas.

Were you hoping there would be two Breaking Dawn movies?

Initially, I went back and forth. At first, I thought one. Then, when I got more into the story and thought, you know what, this is two. It’s a lot in one book. We would have had to cut out so much to do one movie. The nature of the book is sort of two movies. There’s before she’s a vampire and then after she’s a vampire. We’d be giving short shrift to both sections to try and do it as one.

How will it feel to leave the Twilight franchise?

I left Dexter after the fourth season, too. Twilight and Dexter — they’ve been my worlds for the last four years or so. Part of me is very excited about doing something new. I’m ready to branch out and explore other worlds and characters. The other part of me is sad to leave them and a little bit nervous. I’m comfortable in these worlds. I know I can write Dexter and Twilight. It’s always anxiety-provoking to go into new worlds and have to get to know a whole new language.
