Twilight Saga - Do Bella & Edward Have A Mental Connection?

Throughout New Moon I was CONVINCED that Edward was actually talking to Bella through some sort of connection and I was really disappointed when it was never mentioned. I keep thinking that some day Bella is going to turn to Edward and say "When you were gone I could hear you in my head" and him to say "Oh I was thinking those things when you heard them"

What do you think? Was there actually a connection? Was it maybe even a subconscious thing? Or was Bella just delusional?

Dude me too!! I seriously thought that Edward was spying on her and that he would pop out at any minute

I thought that he would be the one to save her when she jumped off the cliff

Then Bella would say something retarded like, "I've died and met you in heaven, yay". Much like Edward in Italy

Stephenie said it was actually just Bella's subconscious telling her that Edward did in fact love her.

I did think Edward was there all along until Stephenie said he wasn't and she made a good point if Edward was there he would have came out when Laurent was around.

I think, if he had sensed that he would have came back

Edward was kinda convinced that, in New Moon, Bella was sad for a while and then got over it

Anyway, I too was sure he was 'talking' to her in some way. But that would have been too clique maybe.

I think that when (im not gonna say if) she becomes a vampire, they will have a special connection, like being able to talk through their minds!

I thought they had a mental connectio, too.
I don't know how it really worked... I thought mybe alice could see what she was doing and told it to edward and then Bella was able to hear his reaction or he just somehow knew it.
I really thought the whole time that they have some kind of connection.

I was really dissappointed when never something like that was mentioned

That is interesting I havent read New Moon yet but I will be looking for that when I do, even though its just been explained that it was Bella thinking those things.

I think it's partly the way it was described... like she could actually hear it - that's what confused people.

And as to Edward coming back, I don't think he would have because it was an 'in the moment' thing she was doing each time and he would've known that he couldn't get there in time anyway and he was trying to stay away to protect her.

I too thought it was Edward talking to her the whole time. But, I figured out it couldn't be when she was with Jacob and she heard the words "Be happy." I just didn't think Edward could ever utter those words to her when they didn't pertain to him.

I was even convinced that he was there watching her. I was sure that he would resurface when she started getting close to Jacob and putting herself in danger. I knew he had to come back (I peeked, I admit it.. ok!!) but I just didn't know how.

The mind is a powerful thing. The subconscious has odd ways of getting the conscious to see the truth when it's being stubborn. Look at people who have PTSD or try to block a traumatic experience, the subconscious brings it all back to the surface so the mind can heal.

This of course is a bit different, but Bella was lying to herself even though she honestly, deep down inside knew different. This was how subconscious let her know the truth.

I definitely felt like (and still kinda do) that they have some sort of connection. For me, it's part of the soul mate/true love thing. It's just part of their relationship. It made me so sad when she'd hear his voice though.

I don't care! I still say they have one.

There is some sort of a connection there...Gravity...Light...Electricity...something...

There was a spark in Twilight, literally, the first time they touched and remember the movie in biology.

The electric charge that she was feeling that was coming from somewhere inside his body. He was feeling it from her, too. Bella's mind may be blocked from him, like it should be, but there is a connection there that supercedes all the rules of this universe and of time and *sigh*. Better than even soul mates share.

It's just all sorts of awesome.
