Hi everyone!

So that both main shipper groups can feel comfortable on this board while discussing the new book, Kasia and I have decided to open up 2 separate discussion threads.

If you are going to be pro Bella & Edward, then you should head on over to the B/E Book Discussion, Spoilers & Speculation

If you are going to be pro Bella & Jacob, then you should post here on the B/J Book Discussion, Spoilers & Speculation Thread.

This does not mean that you can bash the opposing ship or any of the characters involved. It just ensures that everyone will be comfortable posting their opinions. This also does not mean that you have to only discuss Bella & Edward in the B/E Book Discussion, Spoilers & Speculation Thread or only Bella & Jacob in the B/J Book Discussion, Spoilers & Speculation Thread, it is for discussion of all aspects of the book.

Make sure you stick to the following rules:

3. No bashing is allowed. Keep all negative thoughts to a minimum please. We can understand the need to defend your character and why he's the better choice for another but please focus on the couple at hand and don't get lost in discussing why the rival is so much worse than the character you yourself support. 5. No thread titles are allowed that intentionally provoke or are disrespectful to other shipper-groups, actors, posters or fans.

As well as the other Board Specific Rules.

At the moment, speculation & discussion may be posted outside of spoiler tags, but any spoilers must be behind spoiler tags. When the first chapter is released with the special edition of Eclipse, all discussion about it will go in a new thread so that people can decide whether or not they want to know what happens in it.

Thanks Jen for starting this! I definitely don't feel comfortable discussing BD with B/E only shippers. It's nice to have a safe place to share my opinions.

Yup. I wasn't even just disappointed with the storyline, I was disappointed with the quality. When I first started reading I was like 'eh' and stopped somewhere in the middle of all that car stuff. I skimmed the rest just before and I'm still not sure where I stand exactly.

I felt the same way. I don't even know how to describe it. But, it felt "off".

Well from reading that bit I'm afraid all the things I don't want to happen are indeed going to happen. Which I guess I knew all along but I was hoping for a surpise........something different in at least one aspect of the story, but it looks like everything is going to go according to the EB happy ending checklist.

Exactly. Someone could have told me that was fanfic and I would have believed them.

I know what you mean. It didn't exactly ring out with promise for Jacob or J/B fans did it? That's what I (and I think most of us) have been afraid of. It's going to be an E/B paint-by-numbers type thing that caters for the largest slice of the fanbase rather than really going out on a limb and being an epic story with twists and turns and the occasional surprise. But I guess it is only the first chapter... epic could still... happen.

Okay, I just read the 1st chapter and here are my (random) thoughts:

-Edward/Seth and Renee/Esme BFFs for the win! -Edward buying Bella a bulletproof car. -The 'have you seen this boy?' flyers. I find it funny that Charlie's the one freaking out over Jacob's disappearance. -'No one dressed by me ever looks like an idiot.' Oh, Alice, how I love thee, let me count the ways. - at Charlie's only hope relying on Renee throwing a fit on Bella's ass and then, to see this hope get completely dashed! I gotta tell ya, Charlie bringing the funny almost makes me like him again. - that Bella & Alice have figured out a functional way to get through the wedding preparations. -And aww to the fact that Bella's happy place is her different honeymoon scenarios with Edward. -The only thing in this chapter that kinda got on my nerves a bit was Bella still being a bit too whiny over Jacob but I guess we should have expected that since making a choice doesn't mean that all emotions involved will be solved in the quick snap of a finger.

Cathangel - did you mean to post that in the Bella/Jacob Breaking Dawn thread? It seems to me that you're an Edward/Bella fan.

Yeah, the writing definitely didn't seem up to the usual standard, but it's only the first chapter, maybe the style will get back to normal?

I think all of us J/B fans know that it's going to be E/B in the end. I don't think we're dumb enough to think that SM will go with the "unpopular" ending, but we still all wish it would happen. But I didn't think just because it's going to be E/B in the end that she could get rid of Jacob easy.

Having him missing for a long time will piss me off, he's an important character, he's important to Bella no matter what she may think and try to tell herself. The fact that she's worried about him and regularly checks with Seth means something.

Is anyone else really confused about why so many people want Jacob to hook up with Tanya? Where the hell did that come from?

Yeah I don't really get that either...but I thin a lot of people think he's going to imprint on Tanya...but werewolves and vampires are natural enemies I thought. Wouldn't it be a bit weird for him to imprint on her...?
