My sister who's seen the movie preferred Jim Carrey's version now that she's started to watch the show. I haven't seen the movie so I wonder if that will affect the way I see Jim as Olaf when I watch my copy of the movie soon.

Which is kind of one of the reasons why I want to watch the show before the movie, since the show will be more involved, I want that to be my primary image

When I watched it when it first come out. I only knew, Jim, Emily, Meryl, Jude, Timothy and Billie

That was my problem. Like Niel didn't make Olaf his own. He basically copied Jim's take on the character. He used the same mannerisms and ways of delivering the lines and mimicked Jim's voice in plenty of scenes. I just really wanted Niel to divert away from Jim, because no one can beat Jim's take on Olaf.

Thats what i felt and thats why i was worried about it being the same cause the count is a huge part of the story and now all i see is jim carrys version of him cause i really enjoyed his take on it

The movie did have a lot of great actors in it for sure

So many fans of the books seem to hate the movie, and i just don't get it. I'm one of the biggest fans you could come across and I loved it. Went to see it in theaters the day it came out and wasn't disappointed.

I get that it wasn't Daniel Handler's vision, but I love the gothic steampunk vibe, and moreover the movie was just stunning visually. The cinematography and production design were some of the best I've seen, and I think Colleen Atwood won an Oscar that year for the costuming.

Anyway, as someone who loves the movie, the pilot episode did throw me a little because of the shift in style (I thought there was too much color at first) but now that I'm almost halfway through I'm totally onboard and I appreciate how much more faithful it is to the books.
