The Wonderful World Of Disney, as it's generally known despite numerous titles, began it's 80's journey on CBS, beginning in 1981, under the simple title "Walt Disney", on Saturday. It lasted until 1983, when the Disney Channel was created.

It returned in 1986 on ABC titled "The Disney Sunday Movie"

It was hosted by Disney CEO Michael Eisner:

It was retitled "The Magical World Of Disney" in 1988, and lasted until 1990, when it went to the Disney Channel.

I'll be waiting. Hehe. I love Disney.

Barrybgb 09-13-2009 04:34 PM

This will take a while. MORE TO COME!!.

Barrybgb 09-13-2009 06:17 PM

Okay, that's about it. I'll work out the rest of the kinks tomorrow. Lol.

Melis 09-13-2009 06:46 PM

Oh it looks nice! There's tons of stuff to add to a Disney thread.

Disney is just fun!

Barrybgb 09-14-2009 09:05 AM

Okay. Done. Well, for now. Lol. Added and updated a few things. A lot of stuff is rare and hard to come by for this show!. I might add more things along the way, if something comes up.

This show was just special. Very magical. There isn't much magic anymore. :(

Melis, there is a lot to Disney. I loved Disney back then. It's not quite the same now. I wanted to do a thread for the show, which is what I remember and love best, but there could be ones for the Disney Channel and just 80s Disney movies and stuff in general too.

Melis 09-14-2009 03:56 PM

I understand. It was fun to see the series. It's a pity we don't have it anymore.

Barrybgb 09-14-2009 05:02 PM

I wish they would re-run this. It really was special.

It popped back up in the late 90s but it wasn't the same. They would have original movies here and there, but more often than not, they would just air more recent feature films. The 80s were great. More original movies, original series and specials and all that. *sigh*

Any Disney talk is great!. :)

Melis 09-14-2009 05:50 PM

I haven't heard that before. The 80s were the best. ;)

Barrybgb 09-14-2009 06:48 PM

Yeah, it ran into the early 2000s. I think it was ABC. ABC or NBC. That's what the Growing Pains reunion shows and the Facts Of Life reunion movie were on.

Of course, we all know we love the 80s, but I loved this part of Disney history of the 80s the best!.

Melis 09-15-2009 02:08 PM

Oh well, I guess there were a few good ones here and there.

It does. I know they have released DVD's of this show and some of the original 80's movies that aired on the series, but most of the DVD's of the show have been from the 50s era, which would still be very interesting!.
