In memory of Prince. Prince was a gifted and enormously talented singer-songwriter-musician who debuted in the 70s but became a worldwide star in the 80s.

Prince had a string of hits in the 80s including "Purple Rain", "Little Red Corvette", "1999", "Delirious", "When Doves Cry", "Let's Go Crazy", "Raspberry Beret", "Kiss", "U Got The Look", "Batdance" and more!

According to TMZ, which first broke the news, Prince’s body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early Thursday.

Prince cancelled a pair of concerts in Atlanta earlier this month, citing the flu. A week later, his private jet had to make an emergency landing in Moline Ill., when he fell ill.
The Minneapolis native broke through to mainstream success in 1979 with the release of his self-titled sophomore album, which yielded hits like “Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover.” Over the next two decades, he continued to top the charts with tunes both funky and sexual, including “1999,” “When Doves Cry,” “Kiss” and “U Got the Look,” while also writing and producing for artists including Madonna, the Bangles, Apollonia and Sheena Easton.

Prince expanded his résumé by starring in the 1984 big-screen drama Purple Rain — the soundtrack to which has sold 22 million copies worldwide — as well as Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge. Among his TV highlights: Dozens of music videos that helped revolutionize the MTV era; a headlining gig at the 2007 Super Bowl halftime show; and a hilarious guest spot (as himself) in a 2014 episode of Fox’s New Girl. He also was a three-time SNL musical guest.

That was great. I also loved his performance at the 1991 MTV Music Awards where he wore a yellow outfit with the butt cheeks exposed. Lol.

Nothing will ever compare to #Prince - especially live! Dude would go for 3 hours at an arena and then play 3 more at a little club around the corner. I simply thanked him for playing a second gig like that after he played the #BostonGarden. It was about ten or so years ago. I mean what do you say to Prince?? I just said as earnestly as I possibly could, "thank you." And he smiled that sly pirate smile. That was the second time I met Prince. The first time was when I was 17 (#1990) at #EddieMurphy's house in Beverly Hills- playing pool. Just me, Prince and Eddie Murphy playing pool. It was an 80's teenage wet dream. And I don't care if you were a girl or a guy, gay or straight, you'd be creaming your pants too. Eddie was being Eddie- grabbing his crotch and placing it over the corner pocket while I was trying to make a shot. I couldn't wipe the goofy smile off my face- Eddie knew I was having trouble taking it all in. He just said "it's show biz, man." But the line I most remember was the only 3 words Prince said to me all night. He was lining up his shot to break the balls and as he leaned in, he looked over at me and said in his deep, quiet voice, "How was Rio?" I don't even know what I said back. The New Kids had just played #RockinRio and he was asking how it went. How was Rio? I thought. Doesn't come close to playing pool with Eddie Murphy and Prince.

That is one of the coolest stories I have heard today, Jen. What a night that was for Joey! I would **** my pants too if I was at Eddie's house playing pool with him and Prince.

I stayed off

all day Thursday to mourn Prince. I woke up and was on my way to the ATM for my mother in law when my mother called me crying about Prince. I had to pull over and weep with her. I didn't want to believe it. He's in that list of people I grew up adoring and love more now as an adult. I only own one of his cds (he released a greatest hits that has almost 50 songs soit's like why own anything else). I listened to that twice today. RIP
