I remember the time before Cable TV, and MTV do you.

I graduated from High School back in 1982...cable TV was brand new back then, Actually HBO was piloted in my region of the country, and MTV just came out. That was a different time and the Radio (FM) was king. Eight track tapes we gone, and cassaset tapes were in full use (CDs were not out yet). Cell phones did NOT exist at that point and the only game system out was the Atari. Even PCs at that time were a total scream, with the best PC's were the; Apple II, Commodore 64, and IBM PC jr. With connection to others at such speeds of; 300, 600, 1200 baud modems...."Can you say SLLLLLLOOOOWWWW"!!!

What other techs do the rest of you remember...I have to laugh because I am a 25+ yr IT guy as a Sr.DBA, System & Cloud Architect and I am involved with all the state of the art IT tech now. I look at the stuff that was around back then and compare to what is out now and I am totally amazed. Heck the Apollo Moon missions in the 1960-70s had less computer brain power in their ships than is in my modern Samsung Galaxy 8 smartphone<VBG>!!!

I even learned how to use and still have a slide rule. We used them in/for Math. Back them Calculators were huge and cost like $125.oo for scientific function types.

I love your post! I think we all talk about the same things that you posted. It's amazing how things have changed since the 80s.

Maybe you would like to visit our technology thread. We post a lot of pictures there and talk about the fun from then.

I remember when my family had Commodore 64. We thought were so cool.

I loved the boomboxes from the 80s. They were so huge. It's funny because now everyone wants small music players.
