Prince and The Revolution- "Let's Go Crazy"!

I have to admit that I'm only a causal fan of the Purple One these days . Back in the day I was full blown in love with the guy and loved Wendy&Lisa the gals in the Revolution. A few months ago I was going through my DVD collection and found my copy of "Purple Rain" watched it and was back in 1984

I can't believe that it will be 20 years this July since the movie&soundtrack were released. I was 13 and my Mom wouldn't let me go see it. It was given an X rating before they trimmed down to R and she was afraid of what I might see LOL. But she did buy me the record and I remember playing it over and over as loud as I could...that is until "Darling Nikki" the 5th track on the album came on then I turned it down I didn't want Mom to hear about Nikki.

I have heard a rumor that Warner Bros. will be releasing a Special Edition DVD of "Purple Rain" along with a DVD of "Under The Cherry Moon" ( currently only on VHS)sometime this summer.

Anyhoo I would like to dedicated this thread to not only Prince (The Fun 80's version) but The Revolution the best band he ever had IMO.

OMG...I'm the biggest Prince fan.

I have the CD The Very Best of Prince.

I did have the movie, but I let this girl borrow it and suddenly it comes up missing. So now I don't have Purple Rain. Dang Never again will she borrow my classic movie stash.

I like Prince, but oddly enough I don't own any of his albums. Guess that needs to be corrected.

I think he's a musical genius. He's one of those enduring artists that changes with the times, but still can be relied upon for down home good music.

I think my favorite album is Purple Rain.

Genius is right, when it comes to music.

Am I the only one who listened to 1999 that year on New Year's Eve?

haha, I listen to 1999 every day. I was lucky enough to go to one of his concerts a few months back! I had never been a big fan, but I went anyway! It was frickin amazing, the best concert I have been to! Now I listen to him all of the time, I can't get enough of "Lets Go Crazy" and "Raspberry Beret"

Aww, I'm glad you got to go to a concert! I have never seen him live, and it's something that makes me sad. I would love to attend one of his concerts!

Didn't this seem sooo far into the future when we were back in the 90's?

I've seen him once in concert. It was in 2001. It was a huge party, really. When he did one of his "old" songs, people just danced away. Good times

It did! When he first released it and it started getting some time on the air, I kept thinking how far awy 1999 seemed. And look how many years it's been since 1999.

hahaha too true! At his concert, he had the whole crowd sing along with an acoustic version of "Little Red Corvette". It was amazing! I have never heard a crowd sing along so loudly before.
I think the 3rd song in, he had confetti shoot out everywhere during "Lets Go Crazy". It was insane, my entire seat was shaking and my drink spilled everywhere since it was in the cupholder. It already had confetti in it, so it didn't matter anyway. LOL! I was danicng in my own little world hehe

Ooh, I haven't seen this! I'll have to track this one down.

Did anyone know someone who would dress up like Prince? My cousin had a friend who did. Pretty insane, cuz he looked like him.
