Vision Quest(1985) - Because It Was Made In My Hometown!

"Vision Quest" came out in 1985. It was about high school wrestler Loudon Swain(Matthew Modine), who wants to drop two weight classes and wrestle a very tough oppponent, causing friction with those around him, and with his health. Along the way, he meets up with a mysterious woman named Carla that his dad boards a room to.

The movie was made in my hometown and also features the first film appearance by Madonna, who appears singing her hit singles "Crazy For You" and "Gambler", in a scene taking place in a bar. Journey's "Only The Young" comes from the movie too.

The movie also stars Linda Fiorentino, Charles Hallahan, Ronny Cox(Beverly Hills Cop), and Jake Ryan himself, Michael Schoenfeld.

Opening credits that shows the city - circa 1985. Lol.

I don't know this one. I have never even heard of it. It looks like it could be good.

I'm not too surprised. I don't think too many people have. Lol. It's not a great movie, but it's a very 80s movie with a great soundtrack and, of course, it was made in my town. Lol.

I guess I'm lucky. I have sisters and a brother in law who feel that was their decade too, so they love it as well.

Holy cow! Something is wrong the entire OP. Gonna have to fix that. EDIT: Opening post fixed!

Anyways, a couple weeks ago, two local landmarks, Ferguson's Cafe and the Milk Bottle, were destroyed in a fire. This movie, and Benny & Joon with Johnny Depp, used Fergusons for scenes. My brother in law was co-owner for a few years. Well, Fergusons took the brunt of it, and many said it was a lost cause. Down the street, is an old time theater. They are showing this movie this weekend for donations to help re-build the structures.

Anyways, this is what's great. On the news last night, the movie's star, Matthew Modine, heard about what happened. He said he would donate two dinners with himself and he would fly here in January to have dinner with the highest bidder to help the places. How nice is that!
