UB40 Appreciation Thread #1 - Red Red Wine!
UB40 are an English reggae and pop band, formed in December 1978 in Birmingham, England. The band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success. They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984 were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group. UB40 have sold over 70 million records worldwide. The ethnic make-up of the band's original line-up was diverse, with musicians of English, Irish, Jamaican, Scottish and Yemeni parentage. __________________

Very cool. "Red Red Wine", which is actually a cover of a Neil Diamond song, is the only one I really know. Well, that and they did a cool version of Elvis' "Can't Help Falling In Love". I like the singer's voice.

You probably know their top songs but maybe didn't know who sang them.
Can't Help Falling in Love with You is another popular one, but I didn't put it in the OP because it's not 80s. It's version of Elvis Presley's song, and UB40's version was used in several movies. __________________

its interesting how they 'played it safe' after their debut album They sold 70 million records. but people have forgotten what they stood for or even acknowledge the standard of their musicianship __________________
