so my sister got 4 tickets for josh and his best friend (and his wife) back at xmas cuz josh and derek are big tom petty fans but have never seen them live. so here the concert rolls around and the day before derek's brother gets into a terrible accident and they are now unable to attend. they dont know what happend to zack (derek's brother) he was on his way to pick up his girlfriend and when he didnt show she got worried and tracked his phone and saw it was not moving on so she went to look for him and saw ambulances and such there. if it wasnt for her showing up they wouldnt have been able to id him. some how he flipped his car into a ditch and hit the front of his car into a poll. he is alive and in shock trauma. but its not sounding good for him. so josh said he wasnt going to the show without derek. he ended up staying at the hospital with him all night. so they first tried to sell the tickets but since it was so last minute nobody was interested. so they gave them to me and my mother, and she asked her one friend she turned out to be a big tom petty fan so she was very happy to come with us.

so anyways. the tickets were nosebleeds seats on the left side of the stage as far up as you possibly can get. but you could still see great. peter wolfe opened (formally of the J. Gillies band - but he didnt sing any songs from that era) he was stoned out of his mind on stage but still sounded great and performed for about an hour. then there was a short break and tom came out. he was also a little high and was slurring his words some when talking to the crowd but when he was singing he sounded awesome. he did most of his "bigger" hits in the beginning of his set which surprised me i thought he would spread them out more. he played for 2 hrs. actually he was still playing when we left, josh was picking us up on the way back from the hospital at 11:30 and he was still going strong (we took an uber down but they double the rates in the evening on the weekends so we were thankful josh was willing to get us so we left then.). but it was a great show his set went by fast

Well, it is is great that you got to go but not under great circumstances. Bummer Peter Wolf didn't play the hits. Surprised to hear Tom was high too. He has plenty of hits to sing though. Glad you had a good time.

yeah it was a fantastic show. even though he was high (although nowhere near as bad as peter was) you could tell he was a pro and knew how to put on a show. although someone should tell him not to dance he is not good at that at all
