Still The Beaver/The New Leave It To Beaver(1985-1989)

The revival of "Leave It To Beaver" began with the TV movie, "Still The Beaver", in 1983 on CBS. It was picked up as a series, under the same title, on the Disney Channel, from 1985 to 1986.

I don't think I've seen it. I used to watch original in reruns.

It was a little show back when. Hasn't been seen since the early 90's because of distribution rights and all that. They were sold to a company that went belly up soon after and the rights went up into limbo.

It was a nice, cute show. The Beav was divorced and moved back home with his kids. Wally lived next door with his wife and kids. Eddie Haskell and Lumpy were there. Lol.

From what little I remember, it was. Just a nice family show.

Nope. It's very sad. When they do come on, they don't last, and the ones that last are a little more edgy and daring and not like the 80s family shows.

The foreign company that owned the rights to this series has gone belly up, and from what I understand, RHI Entertainment now has them. RHI is still alive. Hopefully, this will free the show up. And on Shout!, someone posted that they were trying to get the movie, Still The Beaver, as part of the special features for the complete series set of Leave It To Beaver.

The Beav, Jerry Mathers, replied to me on Twitter! I asked him if this show was ever coming to DVD. He wrote back and said that it's unlikely due to a legal dispute.

I think I read somewhere that a company bought the rights to it, but then that company went bankrupt. So, I think it has to do with who has the rights or something.

I guess that means it's unlikely to see it air on television anywhere too.
