The Steven Spielberg Appreciation Thread - Because He Made The 80s Magical!

This is a special one for me. Steven Spielberg :

Steven Spielberg is my idol. He is responsible for most of the magic that shaped my childhood in the 80s. As a director, he accomplished that with "E.T.", "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", and the other 2 Indiana Jones films. As a producer(and who also created the story idea for a lot of these films), he made "Back To The Future", "The Goonies", "Gremlins", "Poltergeist", "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Batteries Not Included", "Harry And The Hendersons", "Back To The Future 2", "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids", and others. He also created, produced, and wrote the majority of the story ideas for his TV show "Amazing Stories".

Of course, in the 80s Steven Also gave us "The Color Purple", "Empire Of The Sun", and "Always".

Even though they were made in the 70's, "Jaws" and "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" were special to me too because I saw them in the 80s along with Steven's other masterpieces.

Steven Spielberg, thanks for making my childhood special.

Melis - That he does. Just look at the body of work and the track record he has!. I don't think anybody could touch it!.

Jenny - Great pic, huh?. The original pic I was trying to get had E.T. behind Steven with his arm around him.

Yep. I believe he is the most successful filmmaker of all time.

I read he is doing a re-make next of the Jimmy Stewart classic, "Harvey". He also has an Abraham Lincoln pic with Liam Neeson, a sci-fi film called "Interstellar" and a possible new Indy movie in the pipeline.

Spielberg is definitley doing the "Harvey" re-make.

I would rather him do something new, but this could be interesting. "Harvey" was a 1950s Jimmy Stewart movie about a man who claimed to see a tall bunny, when no one else did. Harvey was the bunny's name. Early rumors were that Tom Hanks would star, which is fitting since he's always called the "Jimmy Stewart of his generation."

This should be cool!.

Steven Spielberg will be producing, thru his classic 80s creation, Amblin Entertainment, a movie directed by J.J. Abrams that is based not only Abram's love for his childhood films, but also as a tribute of sorts to the films of Spielberg of the 70s and early 80s. It's called "Super 8". Not much is known yet, but apparently a teaser trailer has been made and is in front of Iron Man 2. According to Wikipedia, a section of Area 51 has been shut down in 1979(the year the movie takes place in. Awesome!). A cargo train carrying stuff from the site collides with a truck on the rails. Trailer ends with something obviously strong trying to get thru the door. Bring it!!!.

It's funny. My favorite director's birthday is the day before mine, and my big 80s crush(Alyssa Milano) is the same day as mine. I guess it was fate. Lol.
